Unable to. If one believes in and can tolerate the dharma without characteristics, then there can be no truth. Shariputra, some monks are old in years and excellent, and are dragons among monks, possessing profound wisdom, such a person can believe in the empty dharma of nothingness, the view of no self, and the dharma of no person. How can they believe? That person does not covet the words and assemblies of many, nor the Sangha. They do not covet reading scriptures, sleeping, and many affairs. They do not engage in the life and affairs of those who wear gray clothes. They do not send messengers, nor carry and deliver letters. They do not engage in medical matters. They do not read medical texts. They do not engage in trade. They do not covet speaking worldly words. They only believe in and like to speak of the dharma that arises from beyond the world. They can believe that all human dharmas are empty, that all dharmas are non-existent, not possessed, and do not enter. Such a person can realize the realm of original purity of truth, and can roar the true lion's roar, not the sound of a fox. Shariputra, if some monks are attached to mundane written texts, then that person abandons the profound and sacred teachings of the Buddha, recites the teachings of Murduga, and clings to forms. Even if they speak for many people, they only utter the sound of a fox. Shariputra, such an evil person is called a practitioner with a rotten name. Why? Because it is the scripture of Murduga, not the teaching of the Buddha. Shariputra, a monk who is attached to the dharma of Murduga should not say that he is a disciple of the Buddha. Why? Because the son of Shakya, the monk, does not preach the dharma of Jigenji, but only preaches the dharma of the Buddha among the masses. If someone is attached to impure words, even the roar of a lion will become the sound of a fox, and that person will not be able to understand the excellent scriptures of the Buddha's teachings. Shariputra, I will explain the distinctions to you. If someone observes morality, is able to meditate, and has complete wisdom, is not stingy, not greedy, not tainted by hatred and ignorance, not

Greed. There is a mind born of evil thoughts. Speaking the words of the true and correct Dharma, constantly craving the state of abiding in oneness. Not craving sleep and falling asleep. Craving the practice of emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, and unobstructedness. Having generated a mind that desires profundity, seeking to understand the supreme teachings of the Buddha's Dharma, not delighting in worldly words, having faith in words that arise from the world, perfectly upholding all precepts, cutting off and abandoning all evil deeds and all evil friends. By abiding in such a Dharma, one is able to understand the Dharma of emptiness, which is devoid of anything. Why is that? Shariputra, this conduct is called the conduct of a great person, it is not craving the benefit of nourishment, it is not the benefit of craving, it is not the ordinary conduct of foolish and ignorant people. It is not the conduct of renunciates who are weary and broken. It is not the conduct of hermitage renunciates. It is not the conduct of renunciates with false names. Shariputra, the ultimate end of the true characteristics of all dharmas is that constant emptiness is the path to Buddhahood. Craving worldly wealth and gain, one cannot obtain impure dharmas. Shariputra, this is called the ground of great wisdom, it is not a Dharma of craving to remain. It is the ground of clinging to self-view and expounding on sentient beings. Shariputra, truly clinging to self-view. If it is assumed that there is a view of sentient beings, then clinging to self-view and expounding on the view of sentient beings, it is reasonable to inquire truthfully with the reason of having true characteristics. If it is assumed that there is self-view, then what color is it? Blue? Yellow? Red? White? Does it reside inside the body? Does it reside outside the body? Does it reside in all parts of the body? Is it like ghee residing in a ghee pot? Shariputra, ghee exists inside a ghee pot, it can be taken out and it can be shown. If it is assumed that self-view resides inside, then it is reasonable to say that self-view exists, it is reasonable to show it. It is like taking out ghee from a ghee pot and showing the ghee. Seeking self-view from within the supreme teachings is also impossible to find. Therefore, know this! The name of clinging to self-view and expounding on sentient beings
