Using small worldly causes and conditions, he speaks to those who remain at home, also writes it down, and also shows it to those who wear gray clothes. Shariputra, such a foolish person says that all dharmas are empty, so how can he maintain his own characteristics? Why is this? Because such a foolish person cannot even eliminate greed, craving, sorrow, and other afflictions, let alone ignorance. Shariputra, at that time, a monk who upholds the precepts cannot study virtue, nor can he properly study that all dharmas are empty, nor can he properly recite the sutras. Shariputra, it should be said that a monk who upholds the precepts cannot study properly. The Sugata has taught three trainings in the scriptures: training in virtuous conduct, training in virtuous mind, and training in virtuous wisdom. That person cannot train in these three trainings of virtue, but only uses much learning as a cause and condition, and despises others. That person is one who obscures and cuts off virtuous dharmas. Such a foolish person cannot even answer and ask questions according to the Dharma, let alone strive for what is endlessly long. Shariputra, at that time, a monk who has broken his vows will become a servant of those who wear gray clothes, be sent as a messenger, be tamed, and sustain himself with the Dharma of medicine. Shariputra, now you see, that evil person has left home from my Dharma, taken vows, received offerings, and then become my enemy. Shariputra, at that time, the Four Great Kings, Indra, the Great Brahma King, and hundreds of thousands, millions of other gods, seeing such a decline in my Dharma, are all very sad and displeased, weeping and shedding tears. Shariputra, in truth, they rely on me and ally themselves with those who wear gray clothes, engaging in various activities. Why is this? Because the disciples of Shakyamuni Buddha should be served and possessed by gods, nagas, and asuras. If nagas and asuras do not serve and possess my disciples, then
