If one hears the Buddha's teachings and hears this reason, and if one's mind is joyful and generates faith, then the monk who practices other-emptiness, if he teaches that all is unobtainable, benefiting and delighting them, this is the kind of person whose mind is joyful. If one hears that all dharmas are said to be empty and without anything, one becomes frightened and terrified. Among many people, khenpos, lamas, and acharyas say that in the scriptures, it is said that one should practice emptiness. If I can directly know the distinct characteristics of all dharmas, I will become a khenpo. One should not call someone a khenpo who clings to the view of self, the view of person, the inverted wrong view, and who is attached to upholding the precepts. One should allow those who have a true and upright view to practice the Uposatha together. One should not allow those whose precepts are broken, and those whose rituals are broken, to practice the Uposatha together. An elderly and respected disciple, hearing the teachings that emptiness is peaceful and that all is unobtainable, does not believe in his heart, has no faith, and remains depressed and unhappy. If this is the case, the Buddha does not allow the depressed and unhappy to practice the Uposatha. If that person does not abandon such a view, he is not allowed to stay in the Sangha. If he does not accept such a wish, and has already done so, but still does not abandon it, then it is clear that that person is not suitable to abide on the path, and will become lax. The khenpo, lama, and acharya should also admonish him with words and take him back again. Shariputra, for the Sangha, I am skilled in offering such resources, and in destroying the wrong path of unhappiness. That name is called explaining the precepts and pure Uposatha. Shariputra, I will now explain to you separately. If someone has such a view of self, a view of person, a view of sentient beings, a view of existence and non-existence, one should not call such a person one who offers me resources. Nor should one call someone who, like my appearance, has gone forth from home and taken the precepts. One should call that person one who has followed the six khenpos and gone forth from home, and who has been made a khenpo by the six khenpos. Shariputra, if someone cannot tolerate such pure and true teachings, if he accepts resources, then everything that person obtains is called a wrong acceptance. Shariputra, someone from my teachings from home

Coming from..., having kept pure morality, but not believing in or understanding the Dharma that has not attained any supreme emptiness, such a person who is fearful, doubtful, and regretful appears to be particularly attached to upholding morality, extensive learning, and meditation. Shariputra, do not call such a person's name respectful and poor in offerings to me. Why? Shariputra, from beginningless eons, sentient beings have not attained the four dhyanas, and merely attaining the four dhyanas does not constitute the forbearance of a bhikshu. How can such a one be called an offering to me? Therefore, Shariputra, I tell you to discern. In the future, people will destroy my Dharma with many kinds of desire and many kinds of wrong views. Shariputra, some people are particularly attached to upholding morality, extensive learning, and meditation. Such people appear unable to practice the Dharma of a shramana purely, and I have not called such a person a shramana, a brahmin, or a brahmin. Shariputra, if someone knows that there is no self in all dharmas as it is in truth, and that all dharmas are empty from the root without anything, and knows emptiness without anything as it is in truth, then he does not consider upholding morality to be the best, does not consider extensive learning to be the best, and does not consider attaining meditation to be the best. Why? Shariputra, all dharmas have no arising or ceasing in the true aspect, and there is no dharma called the best in them. Shariputra, in the true nature of all dharmas, there is no upholding of morality, and no breaking of morality, let alone the absence of what is called the best in desire. Shariputra, that is called the unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment of the Buddhas, the characteristics of all dharmas and their own characteristics are absent, and there is no view of self or person in emptiness. If such forbearance exists, that is called practice. That is called attainment, and that person's name is a faithful practitioner who has left home, a lineage that receives offerings.
