Different! The fruit of offering to solitary Buddhas is also different! The fruit of offering to the Thus-gone Ones is also different! Therefore, the fruit of giving is not the greatest at all times. Asked: For what reason? The Blessed One gave two kinds of teachings on the meaning of this verse. The teaching said: Because of the change of causes, in the past, there was a householder in Rajagriha who did not believe in the Buddha and liked naked heretics. He asked me what would happen if he gave alms. At that time, in order to correct him, he recited the verse "Giving is praised everywhere." That was for the sake of the Bodhisattvas, and the meaning of the verse was taught as a word of intent. It is not that the meaning of the verse is the same at all times. The so-called "all" should be understood in conjunction with the context, knowing that there is an unfinished meaning. The supreme Bodhisattva should punish those who violate the precepts as if they were fields. Son of good family, I have also recited this verse before, like this: All rivers flow crookedly, All forests are trees, All women have deceitful hearts, All powers are happiness. The minds of women are false and terrifying. Therefore, Manjushri Kumara rose from his seat, bowed his head to the feet of the Blessed One, and then asked the Blessed One again in verse: All rivers do not flow crookedly, All forests are not trees, All women are not deceitful, All powers are not happiness. Therefore, the Dharma gate that the Blessed One taught in this way is not a good teaching. Please tell me what is the reason for this? The three thousand great thousand worlds In this world, there is a different continent called Western Godaniya. There is a river there called the Straight Flow, which flows straight from the western sea to the eastern sea like a carpenter's ink line. The Blessed One taught that the so-called "all" is a surplus meaning derived from a very broad teaching. If the Blessed One taught that the river flows straight, that is very

Please, Bhagavan, tell me from which sutra of the teachings the Tathagata speaks the truth? For example, someone who knows the source of treasure, but is not skilled in the source, says that there is gold there, but says that there is no gold here, this is only knowing a partial difference of the place. To say that all forests are trees is a meaning that has a remainder. There are many kinds of forests, for example, there are also forests of gold and lapis lazuli. Similarly, to say that all women have deceit is also a meaning that has a remainder. Among women, there are also many who possess discipline, are free from desire, and have no miserliness. To say that all power is happiness is also a meaning that has a remainder. What is called power is the wheel-turning king and the Buddhas are the best of power, but they are also subject to birth and death, and are subject to the law of destruction. The power of Brahma is also subject to the law of falling. Therefore, I say that they are not power. What is constant and stable power? That is Nirvana, the power of supreme bliss. The Buddha said to Manjushri: For example, a doctor heals the son of a householder, boils medicine with ghee and makes him drink it, and the patient wants to drink more ghee. The doctor said to him: A person who is strong can drink more ghee because he can digest it, but you are weak, do not drink too much ghee. Although ghee can cure diseases, if you drink too much, it will cause you to die immediately. Then, does this doctor who wants to benefit and is compassionate spoil the true meaning? Similarly, the Blessed One Buddha, in order to eliminate the arrogance of kings, ministers, and consorts, and to make the consorts of King Prasenajit of Kosala fear adultery with others and generate aversion, the Tathagata, like a doctor, began with King Prasenajit: The water of the river flows crookedly,

After giving this teaching, the Tathagata has no error regarding the saying called "Rivers Flowing Turbulently." If there were ever an error, the heavens and earth would be reversed. Therefore, everything has been mentioned, and what is said is that what remains is said to be the same as what does not remain. Manjushri Bodhisattva, supreme Bodhisattva, for the benefit of all sentient beings, to increase wisdom, this is very good, very good. Then, Manjushri, having become a youth, also requested the Blessed One in verse: What I have done and not done, should be examined, but the done and not done of others, and disagreements with others, should not be examined. The Blessed One, the Tathagata, said that the door of Dharma in that way was not a good teaching. For what reason was it taught in that way? Please teach the reason for teaching it in that way. Blessed One, in the nine divisions of scripture, here the naked ones, all sentient beings in hell, and the ninety-six strange ones have entered the wrong path. All the sons of the Buddha have entered Nirvana. Those who are upright, moral, have rituals, and have subdued their senses, all go to heaven and are in the realm of Dharma. Thus, praising oneself, blaming others, and belittling others, you have taught. Blessed One, you have taught what is not in harmony with others, but what is it that is not in harmony with others? Then the Blessed One said to Manjushri, who had become a youth: Son of good family, I said, "Do not examine the disagreements of others." From what did it originate, and why was it taught? It was taught from Ajatashatru. The Buddha, the Blessed One, does not teach what is contrary to meaning without a cause, but teaches with a cause. Previously, Ajatashatru killed his father and came to me, and asked with contempt: Is the Blessed One omniscient? Or is he not omniscient? If the Blessed One is omniscient, why did you ordain Devadatta? He will follow and harm me for many thousands of kalpas.
