Apart from that. I have not permitted eating poison, jumping into fire, fasting, jumping into cliffs, binding oneself, killing oneself, causing jealousy, mantra knowledge, reciting secret mantras, and performing subjugation activities. I have permitted the five essences of a cow, honey, oil, etc., silk brocade, conch shells, shoes, grains, etc., without the concept of meat, and all trees without the concept of life and without the concept of mind. Whatever other views there are, those are the Śrāvakas of heretics. Those who act according to my teachings are my Śrāvakas, I say. I do not say that the four elements have life and consciousness. Such Sūtras and Vinaya that say this should be known as the Sūtras spoken by the Buddha. Those beings who take the Sūtras and Vinaya spoken by Māra as their standard should be known as those who associate with Māra. Those beings who take the Sūtras and Vinaya spoken by the Buddha as their standard should be known as Bodhisattvas. Son of lineage, this is what I have extensively explained, the difference between what is spoken by Māra and what is spoken by the Buddha. Question: Blessed One, from today onwards, I will enter into the teachings of the Buddha. Answer: Son of lineage, well done, well done. Son of lineage, you are good, the wise should do this. Again, he answered: Son of lineage, this is called suffering, but it should not be called the truth of the noble ones. What is that suffering? What is called suffering is also present in cows, donkeys, etc., and in hell beings. If that suffering were the truth, then it would also be their truth. This called suffering, alas, is called knowing suffering, the Tathāgata is eternal. It is the Dharmakāya and not the physical body, thus knowing the greatness of the Tathāgata is knowing suffering. Until they have attained it, beings completely discriminate and wan-

The wheel of samsara, in a place of extreme suffering, experiencing suffering for a long time, will fall into the lower realms. When one knows that the Tathagata is always present, then even hearing two letters of the alphabet, one will enter the happy realms. After that, liberation will also be attained. Therefore, one will realize for oneself that this is the bliss of magic. Just hearing the words "The Tathagata is eternal," because of that cause, I have come here. Until I knew that the Tathagata is eternal, for that long time, I was revolving in suffering. Now I know suffering, this is the truth. Meditating on the suffering of others is meaningless. This is called the arising of suffering because one does not understand the reality of the Dharma. For the sake of the Dharma, one takes many bad things such as slaves and servants, and thinks that what is not Dharma is Dharma. Thus, the true Dharma declines and the true Dharma does not appear. Because one does not know the method of abiding in the true Dharma, one thinks like this. Thinking that the true Dharma will not be destroyed, therefore, as a result, one wanders around in the suffering of samsara. After that, one will attain the heavenly realms and liberation. Because I did not know the reality of the arising of suffering in attaining the heavenly realms and liberation, I became the cause of the destruction of the true Dharma, and I have suffered such long-term afflictions with evil words. Knowing these is called knowing the arising of suffering. Others are not like that. This is called the cessation of suffering, and meditating on emptiness is not eternally meditating on emptiness, everything is exhausted, thereby making the Tathagatagarbha empty, it is not like that. Meditating on the cessation of suffering, even for all wonderful things, there is emptiness that contradicts the meaning. Those will also be called the cessation of suffering. All sentient beings have the Tathagatagarbha, but that is not obvious. When afflictions are exhausted, then you will enter the Tathagatagarbha.

Will be seen. When, by the fruit of the action of generating a single thought, I will obtain the eternal and blissful Dharma sovereignty, if you know that, then that is meditating on what should be meditated on to stop suffering. If the essence of the Thus-Gone One is meditated on as selflessness, and emptiness is constantly meditated on, then suffering will not cease, but will be like a moth going into a flame. If it is not like that, then the beings who meditate on the essence of the Thus-Gone One as existing, while having afflictions, will stop the appearance of afflictions. Why is that? Because of the cause of the essence of the Thus-Gone One. Knowing that is called the true words of stopping suffering from the teachings of the perfectly complete Buddha. Others are meditating on what is not meditation. This, which is called the path that will stop suffering, is the Thus-Gone One, the Dharma, the Sangha, and liberation. Thus, the object that is reversed by the four inversions to them is liberation. Thinking that there is nothing in liberation is like staying in an illusion and wandering completely in the suffering of samsara. By the fruit of wrong meditation, suffering will be experienced for a long time. Now, by the fruit of generating a single thought towards the Thus-Gone One, the Dharma, the Sangha, and liberation as permanent, stable, steadfast, and indestructible, I will obtain the fruit of eternal sovereignty. The four inversions, suffering, selflessness, and impurity, holding what is not Dharma as Dharma, experiencing the fruit of evil views, this is called the path that will stop suffering. Those who meditate on impermanence in order to accomplish meditating on the three bases as permanent are meditating on what is not true meditation. Those who meditate on permanence in that way are my listeners, knowing the four noble truths, I say. These should be known as the four noble truths. Question: Blessed One, I now understand how to meditate in this way of the four noble truths.
