Thinking, 'All beings will know that I am such a person,' so they apply their minds not for the sake of attaining the Dharma. Like this, in order to gain profit, respect, offerings to the lama, prostrations, and wealth, they act like arhats, observing each other, squinting their eyes, and feigning their manners. They carry Dharma robes, monastic skirts, and begging bowls, and sit on beds and cushions, so that people will say, 'I am a good bhikshu, a diligent bhikshu.' However, I will have retinues and disciples. Then, I will obtain food, drinks, chewing items, and beverages. Women will also respect me.' With such thoughts in mind, they make it known to their family and servants. I say that such a disguised bhikshu or bhikshuni has committed the fault of surpassing human Dharma. Furthermore, some bhikshus think, 'I will expound the sacred Dharma,' so they sit on beds and cushions, and everyone thinks, 'Alas, this bhikshu is a good person!' Like this, they make it known that I am not an arhat, but like an arhat. Knowing that I am such a person, many bhikshus will become my retinue, and in addition, outsiders will also become lay practitioners. Those who break their vows will also feel ashamed. Then, I will also expound the sacred Dharma, and I will also proclaim the greatness of the Tathagata, and I will also proclaim the extremely vast Sutra Pitaka, and I will certainly liberate all sentient beings, and I will also distinguish the difference between discipline and non-discipline. I have the seed to become a Buddha, which is called the Tathagatagarbha, and I will become a Buddha. I will destroy the forms of afflictions. Lay practitioners, you also have the Buddha-nature, and we will all become Buddhas and attain the fruit of the Tathagata, and the forms of afflictions will be exhausted.' Thinking like this in their minds.

Such conduct is that of a Bodhisattva through contemplation of the sacred Dharma. I say that it is not a transgression that transcends human morality. Even if a minor offense is committed, the lifespan of the thirty-three gods is enough to cause beings to suffer in hell for eighty thousand years, let alone a major offense? Therefore, for this Mahayana, one should not associate with those who have committed major offenses. A major offense is said to be the act of taking down a garland of flowers offered to protect the stupa of the Blessed One, because the garland has become old and needs to be re-threaded. If a bhikkhu is wary of other bhikkhus and takes down the garland without asking them, then that bhikkhu commits a major offense. If he thinks that doing so will not have any effect and takes it down, one should not associate with such a person. If one destroys a stupa with the intention of stealing, one will also commit a major offense, and one should not associate with such a person. Here, if a householder or minister, out of devotion to the Dharma, wishes to honor the relics, or in order to obtain bricks, demolishes an old stupa, and then, this householder or minister obtains gold and silver from the stupa. If he gives the gold and silver to a certain bhikkhu, and that bhikkhu takes the gold and silver, considers it his own property and disputes over it, then that bhikkhu is not good. Those householders abide in the Dharma. That bhikkhu is not trustworthy and should not be associated with. One should know that he is an eunuch. One should know that he is a hermaphrodite. A hermaphrodite is said to be one who has two sexes. When he has a male desire, he engages in sexual intercourse with women. When he has a female desire, he engages in sexual intercourse with men. Therefore, he is called a hermaphrodite, and one should not associate with him. Since this is the case, one should not associate with such people, so how can those who commit the offenses of the five precepts be regarded and approached? Ninth Chapter. Bhikkhus should initially assist with the Dharma of a renunciant.

Also, have compassion for small insects and the like. With the discipline of a practitioner, one should also abstain from beverages that smell of alcohol. With the discipline of a practitioner, even in dreams, one should not generate the thought of telling lies. With the discipline of a practitioner, even in dreams, one should not generate the thought of encountering women. Question: What does this mean? If one encounters a woman in a dream, will it become a transgression of non-celibacy? Answer: It will not become a transgression. If one possesses intelligence and mindfulness, and does not generate a mind of non-celibacy towards repulsive desires, then it is because one detests afflictions and the words of women, and has correctly severed delusions, so it is impossible to generate (a mind of non-celibacy). Even if one encounters (a woman) in a dream, but if upon waking up in the morning, one feels remorse, like a monk eating the flesh of his own son during a famine, then how could one possibly have the thought of considering oneself pure? Even if (a mind of non-celibacy) arises, one should dispel it. Such a Dharma gate, one should know, is the Sutra and Vinaya spoken by the Buddha. Those beings who take the Sutra and Vinaya spoken by Mara as their standard, one should know that they are in league with Mara. Those who take the Sutra and Vinaya spoken by the Buddha as their standard, one should know that they are Bodhisattvas. The Bhagavan has permitted the heroic posture, silent meditation, jumping off cliffs, eating poison, fasting meditation, self-binding, self-killing, causing jealousy, reciting vidya-mantras and secret mantras, and performing cursing actions. The Bhagavan has permitted the son of a Chandalas, eunuchs, hermaphrodites, and all those with impaired limbs to be fully ordained. The Thus-Gone One abandoned the five essences of milk, honey, sesame oil and the like, fine silks, conch shells, shoes, and grains, etc., because he saw that all trees have life and consciousness, so he completely entered Nirvana. Saying such things, one should know that this is the Sutra and Vinaya spoken by Mara. Abiding in the heroic posture, walking, and other Dharma practices.
