The meaning of stainless is liberation. What is liberation is the Tathagata, therefore it is called stainless. Harmless, harmless, called harmless, like being driven by hunger, if one does not see what is being done, one will be harmed, but liberation is not like that. What is harmless is liberation. What is liberation is the Tathagata. Peaceful, peaceful, called peaceful, worldly people think that the form of the gods is peaceful, peaceful, that is false, not liberation. What is naturally peaceful is liberation, because it is the best of peace for all sentient beings, therefore it is called peaceful. What is peaceful is liberation. What is liberation is the Tathagata. Happiness, happiness, called happiness, like being afraid of thieves and walking happily on the road, liberation is not like that, in the nature of happiness, there is not even the name of fear, therefore unconditioned happiness is liberation. What is liberation is the Tathagata. Benefiting all sentient beings is the Tathagata. Unopposed, unopposed, called unopposed, so-called unopposed, like a king fearing death, liberation is not like that, liberation is originally naturally unopposed. The so-called unopposed is like a Chakravartin king, no one can make him afraid again, it is impossible. Similarly, liberation has no other Dharma of liberation that can match it, it is impossible. What is liberation is the Tathagata. When the Tathagata turns the wheel of Dharma, there is no other sound, therefore the Tathagata Arhat Samyak-sambuddha is unopposed. What is liberation is the Tathagata. Without sorrow, without sorrow, called without sorrow, for whom there is no sorrow? Like a king who is not disturbed being robbed of his throne by another king, destroying the country, he will be very sad, but Nirvana is not like that, like a king who is not subdued by other kings, away from enemies and without sorrow.

Those who have attained liberation are also without sorrow. What is liberation? It is transcendence of sorrow. What is transcendence of sorrow? It is the Tathagata. Being free from sorrow, called being free from sorrow, is like a woman who hears that her son has gone to war and died, but then sees him return and becomes free from sorrow. Transcendence of sorrow is not like that; liberation is eternally free from sorrow. What is liberation? It is the Tathagata. Without dust, called without dust, dust is earth dust and grime. Just as in springtime, the evening wind raises dust, liberation is not like that. Called without dust, just as the jewel on the crown of a king is pure, the self-nature without dust is liberation. What is liberation? It is the Tathagata. Free from dust, called free from dust, is like completely pure gold, without gravel and stones, melted in a crucible, becoming its self-nature. The self-nature that has removed faults is liberation. What is liberation? It is the Tathagata. Not loose, called not loose, is like a yogurt pot breaking; liberation is not like that. Like a bottle of iron and diamond, not loose is liberation. What is liberation? It is the Tathagata. The nature of not being loose, called the nature of not being loose, is like harvesting castor beans and planting them on the roof during the dry season, making crackling sounds everywhere and cracking everywhere; liberation is not like that. Called the nature of not being loose, just as a bottle of iron and diamond cannot be broken even if shot by a thousand chariot arrows, the nature of not being loose is liberation. What is liberation? It is the Tathagata. Nothing to be done, called nothing to be done, is like a poor person who owes a debt and falls into the hands of a rich person, and although afflicted by afflictions, is released because he cannot repay anything; liberation is not like that. Called nothing to be done, is like a person who possesses countless wealth and owes no one a debt.

Just as the supreme among those possessing countless millions of teachings is liberation. That which is liberation is the Thus-Gone One. That which is without action, that which is called without action, is like a poor person who has no wealth anywhere in his own home, and thinks, "I will borrow." Liberation is not like that. That which is called without action is like a householder who possesses countless wealth and does not depend on the sun or the moon. Such a wealthy householder does not hear the sound of "the sun has risen" or "the moon has risen." Similarly, a supremely happy householder, born into the lineage of a universal monarch, does not borrow from others for external affairs, nor does anyone say, "This person borrows from others," for that is impossible. Similarly, liberation does not borrow from other places of liberation, for that is impossible. Therefore, that which is without action is liberation. That which is liberation is the Thus-Gone One. Without harm, that which is called without harm is like relying on excessive heat in the hot season, relying on excessive sweetness in the rainy season, and relying on excessive cold in the winter, one's own harm causes faults to arise from it. Liberation is not like that, it is not harmed by many diseases. Furthermore, that which is called harm is like drinking milk after eating meat and fish, which leads to death; liberation is not a dharma with harm. That which is called without harm is like eating suitable food, one experiences delicious taste and it is like eating nectar; the nature of liberation is like nectar. That which is liberation is the Thus-Gone One. A dharma without harm, that which is called a dharma without harm is like a person filled with pride, arrogant and intoxicated with pride, thinking, "I will not die," trying to seize a snake or a tiger, and being seized by it, dying an untimely death. Similarly, a person filled with pride will not attain liberation. That which is called a dharma without harm is like
