Thus spoke the departed one. Again, he said: If even the Saṃgha that is compounded does not have complete accumulation, how can there be a Saṃgha that is uncompounded? The Saṃgha that is uncompounded is the Tathāgata. Where would there be a secret Dharma taught to the Tathāgata? Whatever is secret is completely accumulated. That which has no subsequent cutting off is the unwavering bliss, which is the meaning of nirvāṇa. In that, there is no sky. Years, days, suns, and moons also have no effect. Comets, constellations, mountains, time, and clouds are also not there. Because the continuum of birth has ceased, death, sickness, old age, and abandoning the twenty-five existences, being separated from the nature of suffering and afflictions. The Tathāgata is eternal, stable, blissful, unwavering, and without a place, which is complete nirvāṇa. Therefore, to go there, today the Tathāgata departs to the great city. The terms "great" and "greater" have the same meaning. The term "great" is a superlative word with remainder. If someone here lives immeasurably long, that person is counted among the great beings. If they also possess the Dharma, that person is the best of all beings. Furthermore, here, through the eight recognitions of a great being, one becomes a unique being. Among many great beings, whoever possesses the eight recognitions of a great being is the greatest among all great beings. Because I have said this, it is therefore called great. What is called nirvāṇa with remainder is that which benefits someone, that is called nirvāṇa. Why is that? Son of good family, for example, if someone here is struck by a severe poisonous arrow and is hit by hail, that person who is hit by hail is healed by a great physician who removes the severe poisonous arrow, makes them comfortable, and restores them to their former unharmed state. Then that physician abandons that person and goes to another country, another city, another home, wherever there are injured people and wherever there is work to be done on wounds, he stays there. Similarly, the Tathāgata, the Arhat,

Moreover, the perfectly enlightened Buddha, the great physician who removes suffering, has also, from countless eons, healed the suffering of all extremely wounded beings in Jambudvipa, who have been afflicted by the poison of afflictions such as desire, hatred, and ignorance, with various virtuous root medicines from the Great Vehicle Sutra section. After healing them, he also liberates them from suffering, and wherever there are wounded beings, the Blessed One will truly appear. Therefore, great Nirvana relies on the true meaning. The so-called great Nirvana is the supreme term for the city of liberation in all existence, and wherever there are those who need to be tamed, the appearance of perfect enlightenment is the famous word. It is clear. The true meaning is the so-called great Nirvana. Question: Blessed One, what is it? After the doctor heals all the wounded, will he appear in countries, cities, villages, and the palaces of kings, or wherever else there are wounded? Answer: Son of good family, do not say that he heals the diseases of all wounded beings. Other beings who cannot be healed will not be healed. Why? Because their diseases cannot be healed. The Tathagata only heals all incurable diseases, except for extreme desire, and all those who attain Nirvana are healed. Question: What is liberation like? Is it with form? Or is it without form? Answer: Some are with form. Some are without form, those without form are the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. The Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, are with form. Liberation is both with form and without form, but it cannot be said to be "with form." Question: Why ? Answer: Just like Mahakashyapa and those of the same lineage, such as the gods of the realm of neither perception nor non-perception, their bodies are both with form and without form, but it cannot be said to be "with form." Question: Perception
