Regarding the declaration of the trichiliocosm, it should also be combined according to the principle of the samādhi of valiant going. Because the Tathāgata reveals all great deeds, it is called the Great Parinirvana. The Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva who abides in this is called the Great Eternal because he establishes all great deeds, great miracles, and fearlessness. One should not ask how to practice. The Tathāgatas, Arhats, perfectly complete Buddhas, should be understood to be in accordance with the world, like engaging in the means of showing the other side of the Śrāvakayāna. Since they have crossed the river of desire from countless billions of kalpas, therefore the Tathāgata is eternal, stable, and true. Question: As you said, here, like a lamp extinguished, there is no place to point out where death occurs, similarly, the place of the Tathāgata's Parinirvana is also the same, then how is the Tathāgata eternal, stable, and true? Answer: Son of good family, Nirvana is not spoken of as being like the state of a lamp. Son of good family, for example, whether it is a man or a woman, with a large or small vessel, filling it with butter or sesame oil, and lighting a lamp, the flame of the lamp will burn as long as there is sesame oil, and when the sesame oil is exhausted, the lamp will be extinguished. Among them, the exhaustion of afflictions is shown as being like the extinguishing of a lamp. The Tathāgata is eternal like a vessel. The exhaustion of afflictions is like a lamp and sesame oil, so does the vessel also disappear together with the lamp? Question: Bhagavan, that is not so, the vessel does not disappear. Then, will the Tathāgata also perish like a vessel? If the Tathāgata is also like a vessel of sesame oil, then wouldn't you say that the Tathāgata will also be exhausted? Answer: The Tathāgata is not like a vessel, whatever is supremely eternal, that is the Tathāgata. Therefore, Nirvana is always supremely blissful. Son of good family.

Moreover, son, like the place where a lamp is extinguished is the Arhat. Therefore, attaining the state of Nirvana, the Arhat himself is called the supreme of fruits. All Arhats are free from attachment to defilements, without defilements, reaching the ultimate like the place where a lamp is extinguished, and delighting in non-defilement. The Non-returner, I also show with my words of thought that it is the meaning of non-defilement, but it is not the state of Nirvana. Question: World Honored One, what is the meaning of what you said, "Non-returner"? Answer: Whoever does not take rebirth again is called a Non-returner. Question: World Honored One, since it is a Non-returner, then for the Non-returner, if there is still the matter of taking rebirth again, why won't the Non-returner be reborn again into this naturally impure body that seeks worms? Answer: Although that body is not taken, the body is taken like poison. Therefore, it is called a Non-returner. The so-called Non-returner is a synonym for "body." The so-called returner is a synonym for "mutual coming and going." Question: World Honored One, what does this mean? Is there a secret in the teachings of the World Honored One? Please do not keep it secret with "words of thought, words of thought." World Honored One, what does this mean? Is the Buddha's teaching like the illusion wheel of a magician, or like the illusory woman transformed by an illusionist? Answer: There is no secret in my teachings. The Buddha's teaching is like the full moon in autumn, flawless, not defiled, without ignorance, free from secrets and profound secrets, and is clear and bright. Sixth Chapter. Son of good family, for example, a wealthy householder with servants and countless possessions has only one son, who is both lovely and cherished, both loved and adored. He takes the son back from the son's teacher, and because he loves the son, he himself strives to teach him half of the letters. Even if he strives to finish teaching half of the letters, can he show the difference through grammar? Even if he can show it, can he understand grammar by learning half of the letters?

Will they understand the meaning of it? Would a householder who owns slaves keep secrets from his own son? He replied: Blessed One, it is not so. Because of the son's intelligence and sharpness, and because of the lack of intelligence, it is as if there is secrecy for him. For him, unpleasantness, cunning, and stinginess are what should be understood as secrets. But having faith and joy, having the notion of seeing the only son as one, that is not called a secret. The Buddha said: Noble son, well said, well said! Noble son, you speak well! Whatever is endowed with hatred, cunning, and stinginess, that is a secret. Just as the householder who owns slaves does not reveal it because of his power and love, just like the householder who owns slaves, although I have the notion of seeing all beings as my only son, because those children cannot bear it, I do not show the profound words. I show the nine divisions of scripture like teaching half an alphabet. Like grammar, I have shown the ten powers, the four noble truths, the eightfold noble path, and the grammar of the greatly expanded Mahayana. Noble son, furthermore, when half the alphabet has been learned and it is appropriate to learn phonology, if the householder who owns slaves does not teach grammar, then it is called a secret because of stinginess. If the meaning of grammar is shown, then the child will learn grammar completely, just as I also show the nine divisions of scripture to the hearers until they become vessels of the Great Vehicle. If I secretly teach the Great Vehicle to beings who have become vessels, then I have done secrecy like grammar. This is what should be said. Now, like grammar, I have shown that the Tathagata is permanent and stable, and like the householder who owns slaves, I have made my own son complete. Just as making all knowledge complete, so making it complete. Noble son, again, for example, the great summer clouds roar with thunder and pour down heavy rain.

Even though it has already rained, if the seeds of some sentient beings do not sprout, is it the fault of the great clouds? Do the great clouds not rain? Similarly, now I have fully revealed the great Nirvana, the great secret, but those who have not become vessels for sentient beings, they do not hear it. Again, it is said: Those who have no complete accumulation, those who do not cling to food, like birds in the sky, they are difficult to trace. What is the meaning of this teaching? Who has no complete accumulation, who does not cling to food, whose traces are difficult to trace, who went where? They are difficult to trace. Among them, jewels and so on are accumulation. The so-called "complete" is a special way of saying a word class. The so-called "complete" means gathering, here it refers to the saying of obtaining good things. The so-called "accumulation" and "wealth" have the same meaning. Whoever completely accumulates wealth, that is their complete accumulation. Among them, the so-called complete accumulation is of two kinds: conditioned complete accumulation and unconditioned complete accumulation. Among them, the Shravakas are the form of conditioned complete accumulation. The Tathagata is the form of unconditioned complete accumulation. The Sangha is of two kinds: the conditioned Sangha and the unconditioned Sangha. Among them, the so-called conditioned Sangha is the Sangha of the Shravakas, the Sangha of the Shravakas does not even have complete accumulation, let alone holding slaves and other bad things and warehouses, etc., this is inappropriate, so they do not completely accumulate even salt and sesame seeds. Those who say that the Blessed One allowed us to hold slaves and so on, their tongues may become dull. Those Shravakas are the form of having no complete accumulation, they completely understand food. Those who do not cling to food, they completely understand food. They are difficult to trace on the path of walking. They quickly approach Buddhahood. Their walking is difficult to trace, so it is said.
