It should be washed with water and then eaten. I have taught this. In such places, where food and drink seem to be mostly mixed with meat, that should be avoided. If one container touches another, but the food itself is not mixed, there is no fault. Pork, fish, venison, dry hooves, or food contaminated by other meats will also lead to downfall. I say this. Previously, it was taught in the context of having a purpose. Now here, I teach that eating meat will lead to harm. This is what I have said many times at the time of my complete Nirvana, and this is called the power of questioning. The so-called power of having a purpose refers to monks, nuns, laymen, or laywomen asking me this: If the Tathagata initially only spoke of one beginning, why did the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened One, not speak these meanings and words to King Prasenajit of Kosala? Blessed One, the Tathagata's teaching of the Dharma gate in this way is not well-spoken. If they say this, there will be a fault, I say this. What is meant by guarding? What is meant by taming? What is meant by Pratimoksha? There are many other faults, listen. What is meant by Pratimoksha? Pratimoksha means contentment, reducing possessions, and not accepting. In short, Pratimoksha means liberation from both meanings. Because it liberates from wrong speech, it is liberation. Guarding means guarding against everything that is unsuitable, because living by it leads to falling into the four forms of life, and it leads to being boiled in all terrifying places such as sentient hells. Taming means obtaining, taming, and showing rituals, and because there is no necessary result from accepting bad things, bad things are not accepted either. Not giving bad things is taming. So, why were the precepts of taming not established all at once? Because

There are also some who have committed the offense of the four defeats. There are also some who have committed the offense of the thirteen remaining sangha offenses. There are also some who have committed the offense of the thirty expiation offenses. There are also some who have committed the offense of the ninety-one single expiation offenses. There are also some who have committed the offense of the four to be confessed offenses. There are also some who have committed the offense of many training precepts. There are also some who have committed the offense of the seven ways to settle disputes. There are also some who always violate all the training precepts. There are also some who commit the five heinous crimes. There are also some who abandon the sutras. There are also some who have perfected the characteristics of the ultimate cause of great desire. Here, some monks who commit sinful deeds, exceeding all dharmas, even if urged by others, show the arrogance of being wise themselves and do not repent. It is also said that it can be remedied, but there are also some who make it impossible to remedy. Some hide like the body of a turtle. In this way, because of concealing one's own faults for a long time, faults will arise and sins will be accumulated. Therefore, the Tathagata is omniscient, and asks the sinners one by one, and initially only establishes one precept, and does not establish all the training precepts all at once. Questioner: Does the Tathagata, knowing that those people will fall into the extremely terrifying Avici hell, still send them there? To give an example, some pathfinders enter the road and do not find the correct road, and there is a road that is deviated. Those people also abandon the original road, take a detour, and become bad, but they do not realize that we have taken a detour, thinking that this is a good road, and enter it. Just like not seeing the guide, for those beings who are ignorant of the Dharma and do not see the suchness of the holy Dharma, the Bhagavan initially only indicates the road, without showing the previous sins, whether large or small. If the monks therefore fall into sins, then, like this, the Bhagavan is the true guide, who fully sees the difference of the true road, fully sees the benefit of the merits of the Dharma road, and is the god of gods, the Bhagavan.
