Therefore it ripens. The cause of all sentient beings' present time is the four great elements, time and season, consisting of earth and fire, experiencing suffering and happiness. Therefore, all sentient beings must experience suffering and happiness due to past karma. If a person could be liberated from the power of the cause and conditions of cutting off karma, then all noble ones would not be liberated. Why is that? Because the past karma of all sentient beings has no beginning or end. Therefore, I say that meditating on the noble path, the path can reverse the karma that has no beginning or end. If a person attains the path through asceticism, then all animals should also be able to attain enlightenment. Therefore, one should first tame the mind, not tame the body. Therefore, I have also said in the Sutra Pitaka: When cutting down a forest, do not cut down the trees. Why is that? Because fear arises from the forest, not from the trees. If you want to tame the body, you should first tame the mind. The mind is an example of the forest, and the body is an example of the trees. Extremely Good asked: Blessed One, I have already tamed the mind first. The Blessed One replied: Son of good family, how did you tame the mind first? Extremely Good asked: Blessed One, I have contemplated that desire is impermanent, without happiness, and completely impure, while form is permanent, happiness, self, and pure. Having realized this, I cut off the afflictions of the desire realm and attained the realm of form. Therefore, I have tamed the mind first. Then, contemplating form, form is impermanent, like a sore, a boil, a tumor, or a thorn. Seeing that formlessness is permanent, pure, and peaceful, having realized this, the afflictions of the form realm are exhausted, and the realm of formlessness is attained. Therefore, I have tamed the mind first. Then, contemplating feeling again, it is impermanent, like a sore, a boil, a tumor, or a thorn. Having realized this, above the realm of neither perception nor non-perception,
