Because of stability, from the perfection of the practice of generosity to the perfection of wisdom, all are perfected. Possessing qualities, from a long time ago, having attended and served countless Buddhas, purifying the pure conduct, not turning back from the mind of enlightenment, obtaining the patience of non-retrogression, obtaining the dharani of non-retrogression, obtaining the patience of the Dharma, and the samadhi of courageous conduct, etc., obtaining countless samadhis. These are because, for the sutras of the Great Vehicle, there will never be any doubt. And they are very skilled at distinguishing and showing that the three jewels are of one nature, constant, abiding, unchanging, and unmoving. Even if they hear inconceivable teachings, they will not be surprised or amazed. Even if they hear many kinds of emptiness, their minds will not be discouraged or afraid, and thus they will also realize the nature of all phenomena. They can also uphold the twelve categories of scriptures, and are very proficient in their meaning. If it were not so, if they could uphold the twelve categories of scriptures of countless Buddhas, then why could they not uphold this nomenclature of the Dharma of complete nirvana? Having heard these words, Ananda joined his palms, knelt on his knees, and said: Venerable one, if that is the case, if the Tathagata grants me three requests, I will serve the Tathagata according to the order of the Sangha. After saying this, Maudgalyayana asked: What do you want? Ananda said: My three wishes are that if the Tathagata bestows old clothes on me, allow me not to go begging; if the Tathagata goes to the house of a benefactor, allow me not to go; allow me to go at any time, and I will serve the Tathagata according to the order of the Sangha. Then Kaundinya and five hundred monks returned to where I was and said to me: We advise Ananda that if these three wishes are granted, I will act according to the order of the Sangha. Manjushri, at that time I said to Ananda, very good, very good. The monk Ananda is wise and knew in advance that he would be exploited. Why is that? Because some people would say that you serve the Tathagata for the sake of clothes and food. Therefore, he said that he did not want old clothes and did not go to feasts. Kaundinya said that the monk Ananda is wise, and if the time and number of times to go are limited, he will not be able to extensively do things that benefit and bring happiness to the four assemblies. Therefore, he requested that there be no time limit for going. Kaundinya, I granted the three requests of the monk Ananda as he wished. Then Maudgalyayana went to the monk Ananda again and said to Ananda: I have asked for you, and the Tathagata, with great compassion, has granted everything. Ananda said: Venerable one, if the Bhagavan has agreed, I will serve. Manjushri, Ananda served me for more than twenty years and possessed eight inconceivable qualities. What are the eight? Like this, having served me for more than twenty years,
