He fully knows the differences between dull and sharp faculties. He also knows the faculties of beings in the present age and the faculties of beings in the future age. Those beings will say this after the Blessed One has completely passed into nirvana. Some say that the Tathagata has ultimately and completely passed into nirvana. Some say that he has not ultimately and completely passed into nirvana. Some say that there is a self. Some say that there is no self. Some say that there are five aggregates. Some say that there are no five aggregates. Some say that there is a return. Some say that there is no return. Some say that the body of the Tathagata is created. Some say that the body of the Tathagata is not created. Some say that the twelve links of dependent origination are created phenomena. Some say that the twelve links of dependent origination are not created. Some say that the mind is permanent. Some say that the mind is impermanent. Some say that the pleasure of the five desires obstructs the superior path. Some say that it does not obstruct. Some say that the supreme dharma of the world is only the desire realm. Some say that it is the three realms. Some say that generosity is only mental action. Some say that it is the five aggregates themselves. Some say that there are three uncreated things. Some say that there are no three uncreated things. Again, some say that form is created. Some say that form is not created. Some say that there is uncreated form. Some say that there is no uncreated form. Some say that there are mental factors. Some say that there are no mental factors. Some say that there are five existences. Some say that there are six existences. Some say that the eight precepts can be fully taken by a layperson. Some say that they can be taken even if not fully kept. Some say that even if a monk breaks the four root vows, he still has the precepts of a monk. Some say that he does not. Some say that a stream-enterer, a once-returner, a non-returner, and an arhat can also realize enlightenment.

Some say. Some say that enlightenment cannot be directly realized. Some say that sentient beings possess the Tathagatagarbha. Some say that the Tathagatagarbha is different from sentient beings. Some say that even those who have destroyed the four roots, committed the five inexpiable sins, and have wrong views, all possess the Tathagatagarbha. Some say they do not possess it. Some say there are Buddhas in the ten directions. Some say there are no Buddhas in the ten directions. If the Tathagata possesses the power to know the faculties, why does he not clearly declare it? Then, the Blessed One said to the Bodhisattva Light Protector: Son of good family, this matter cannot be known by eye consciousness, nor even by mind consciousness, but only by wisdom. To those who are wise and intelligent, I have not spoken of two, and they know that I have not spoken of two. To those who are without wisdom, it is spoken uncertainly, and those without wisdom also know that I have spoken uncertainly. Son of good family, all the virtuous dharmas of the Tathagata are spoken for the purpose of taming sentient beings. For example, all the medicines possessed by a skilled physician can cure all those who are afflicted by diseases. Son of good family, the Buddha, the Blessed One, for the sake of the land, for the sake of the season, for the sake of speaking to others, for the sake of showing to outsiders, for the sake of the faculties, explains one dharma as two, explains one name of dharma as countless names, explains countless names from one meaning, and explains countless names from countless meanings. So, how does one explain countless names from one name? For example, complete Nirvana is also called Nirvana, also called unborn, also called non-existent, also called unmade, also called unconditioned, also called refuge, also called place and support, also called liberation, also called light, also called lamp, also called ultimate, also called fearless, also called irreversible, also called place of bliss, also called peace, also called...
