If understood in this way, although the body is with poison, there is also the supreme king of medicine. Just as there are poisonous grasses in the snowy mountains, but there are also supreme medicines. Son of the lineage, in this way, sentient beings also obtain the fruit of maturation from afflictions, but they make that fruit of maturation not become the cause of afflictions, this is called pure conduct. Furthermore, son of the lineage, when a wise and intelligent person investigates from what cause feelings and craving arise, they know that they arise from the cause of perception. What is the reason for this? Even if sentient beings see form, desire does not arise. Even when realizing feelings, desire does not arise. If one generates a reversed perception of form, viewing form as permanent, pleasurable, self, and pure. And viewing feelings as permanent, unchanging, and immutable. In this way, due to reversed perceptions, attachment, hatred, and ignorance will arise. Therefore, a wise and intelligent person should examine perception. How should one examine perception? One should think: All sentient beings have not attained the noble path, so all have reversed perceptions. What are reversed perceptions? They are generating the perception of permanence in impermanent things, generating the perception of pleasure in things without pleasure, generating the perception of purity in impure things, and generating the perception of self in empty phenomena. And generating perceptions between men, women, large, small, day and night, years, months, clothes, dwellings, and bedding, which are not bedding, as men, women, and bedding. There are also three types of perception: small, large, and infinite. Small causes generate small perceptions, large causes generate large perceptions, and infinite causes generate infinite perceptions. There are also small perceptions, such as not entering into meditative absorption. Large perceptions are entering into meditative absorption. And infinite perceptions are the ten all-pervading ones. There are also small perceptions, such as the perceptions of the desire realm, and so on. There are also large

That is the perception of the form realm, and so on. Furthermore, the infinite perception is the perception of the formless realm, and so on. When the three types of perception cease, feeling also ceases naturally. The cessation of perception and feeling is called liberation. The Bodhisattva Light Protector again said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, if all dharmas cease, it is called liberation, why does the Thus Gone One say that liberation occurs when perception and feeling cease?" The Blessed One said: "Son of good family, the Thus Gone One sometimes teaches the Dharma based on the condition of sentient beings, and those who hear it understand the Dharma. Sometimes sentient beings are taught based on the condition of the Dharma, and those who hear it understand the explanation of sentient beings. How is it taught based on the condition of sentient beings, so that those who hear it know the Dharma? It is like what I said to the great Light Protector before: 'Light Protector, when sentient beings cease, virtuous dharmas also cease.' This is teaching based on the condition of sentient beings, so it is said that those who hear it know the Dharma. How is it that sentient beings are taught based on the condition of the Dharma, so that those who hear it know the explanation of sentient beings? It is like what I said to Ananda before: 'One should neither be close to all dharmas, nor distant from all dharmas. If by being close to a certain dharma, virtuous dharmas decline and non-virtuous dharmas increase, then one should not be close to that dharma. If by being close to a certain dharma, non-virtuous dharmas decline and disappear, and virtuous dharmas increase and flourish, then one should be close to that dharma.' This is teaching sentient beings based on the condition of the Dharma, so it is said that those who hear it know the explanation of sentient beings. Son of good family, although the Thus Gone One has said that perception and feeling are cut off, in reality, everything should be cut off." A wise and intelligent person, having examined perception in this way, gradually realizes that the cause of perception is not infinite perception. If one examines from what it arises, one knows that it arises from the cause of contact. Contact is also of two types: contact caused by affliction and contact caused by liberation. Among them, ignorance
