Therefore, everything should be done at the time of feeling. Therefore, the wise and intelligent should first examine feeling. After understanding feeling, one should also examine what cause and condition this feeling arises from. If it arises from cause and condition, then what do these causes and conditions arise from? If there is no cause for arising, why does no feeling arise from no cause? Furthermore, this feeling does not arise from the cause of Ishvara, does not arise from a person, does not arise from atoms, does not arise from time, does not arise from consciousness, does not arise from nature, does not arise from self, does not arise from other, does not arise from self and other, and does not arise from no cause. Feeling arises from the aggregation of causes and conditions, and that cause and condition is craving. In that aggregation of causes and conditions, feeling is neither existent nor non-existent, one should understand it as such. Therefore, I have cut off the aggregation of causes and conditions. Because the aggregation of causes and conditions is cut off, feeling does not arise, one should think like this. Son of good family, the wise and intelligent, after understanding the cause, should examine the ripening of the fruit. Sentient beings, due to the condition of feeling, experience the bodies of sentient beings in hells, the birth places of animals, and the bodies of hungry ghosts, and endure immeasurable suffering in the three realms. Due to the condition of feeling, they experience impermanent happiness. Due to the condition of feeling, they cut off the root of happiness. Due to the condition of feeling, they can attain liberation. When thinking like this, they do not create the condition of feeling. How does one not create the condition of feeling? That is, one should distinguish which feelings will cause craving, and which cravings will cause feeling. Son of good family, if a sentient being thoroughly understands the cause of existence and the cause of feeling in this way, then they will be able to completely cut off the self and what belongs to the self. Son of good family, whoever thoroughly understands in this way can thoroughly understand from where to where craving and feeling cease. Because one sees a place where feeling and craving slightly cease, one knows that ultimate cessation also exists. At that time, faith in liberation arises. After generating faith, one then thinks about what cause the state of liberation can be obtained from. Knowing that it can be obtained through the Noble Eightfold Path, then one

One should practice meditation. What are the eight noble paths? When observing feeling on this path, there are three characteristics: suffering, happiness, and neither suffering nor happiness. All three of these aspects can generate body and mind. What is the cause and condition for them to arise? It is due to the condition of contact. This contact is also of three types: contact of ignorance, contact of knowledge, and contact of neither knowledge nor ignorance. Among them, the contact of knowledge is the eight noble paths. The remaining two contacts generate body and mind, as well as the three types of feeling. Therefore, I should cut off the two causes of contact. If contact is cut off, the three types of feeling will not arise. Son of good family, in this way, feeling can be called both a cause and a result. Wise and intelligent people also observe cause and effect in this way. How is it a cause? The arising of craving from the cause of feeling is called a cause. How is it a result? Because it arises from contact, it is called a result. Therefore, this feeling is both a cause and a result. Wise and intelligent people, after observing feeling in this way, gradually observe craving. The maturation of the result of feeling is called craving. When wise and intelligent people observe craving, there are also two types: with food and without food. Among them, craving with food is the cause of birth, aging, sickness, death, and all cravings. Craving without food can cut off birth, aging, sickness, death, and all cravings, and generates craving and attachment to uncontaminated actions. Wise and intelligent people also think like this: If I generate craving with food, I will not be able to cut off birth, aging, sickness, and death. Even if I am attached to the uncontaminated path, if I do not cut off the cause of feeling, I will not be able to attain the result of the uncontaminated path. Therefore, I should cut off contact. After cutting off contact, feeling will also naturally cease. After feeling ceases, craving will also completely cease. This is what is called the eight noble paths. Son of good family, if any sentient being
