Son of good family, the monk Good Star has many virtuous friends and retinues, and they all believe that Good Star is an Arhat, and has attained the fruit of Bodhi, in order to destroy their minds of wrong view, it is predicted that Good Star will fall into hell because of negligence. Those with wrong views are also like this. Although there is a root of virtue in the future, they will not be liberated from the suffering of sentient beings in hell. Although they will be liberated in the future, they are of no use in the present, so it is said that they cannot be liberated. They can also be liberated by the cause and condition of Buddha-nature. What is called Buddha-nature is not past, not future, not present, therefore Buddha-nature cannot be severed. Just as a sprout does not grow from a rotten seed, so too are those with wrong views. Petition: Blessed One, those with wrong views have not severed Buddha-nature. Since Buddha-nature itself is virtue, why is it said that all virtue is severed?
