The last one dwells there. The intermediate meditator dwells in the Tushita Heaven. The lowest meditator dwells in the Mahesvara Heaven. Thus, of those two, one delights in speech, and one delights in silence. Among them, the one who delights in silence goes to the Formless Realm. The one who delights in speech dwells in the five Pure Abodes. Again, there are two types: those who cultivate familiarity with meditation and those who do not. Among them, those who cultivate familiarity with meditation go to the five Pure Abodes. Those who do not cultivate familiarity are born in the Formless Realm, and after their lifespan is exhausted, they completely attain nirvana. This is called 'Nirvana by Constant Transcendence.' Whoever desires to go to the Formless Realm cannot cultivate the four dhyanas and the five distinctions. Whoever cultivates the four dhyanas and the five distinctions does not practice Formless meditation. Bodhisattva Light Protector asked: "Venerable Lord, is the intermediate nirvana attainer of sharp faculties? If he is of sharp faculties, why does he not attain nirvana in the present time? Why is there intermediate nirvana in the desire realm, but not in the form realm?" Venerable Lord, The Venerable Lord replied: "Son of good family, it is because the four great elements are weak in the present time, and he cannot cultivate the path. Monks, if those four great elements, namely dwelling, alms, clothing, bedding, and medicine for sickness, etc., are not available, then he will not attain nirvana in the present time. Son of good family, once in the past, I was in Shravasti, residing in Anathapindika's Jetavana Grove. A monk came to where I was and said: 'Venerable Lord, I have always cultivated the path, but I have not attained from stream-entry to the fruit of arhatship.' At that time, I said to Ananda: 'Provide this monk with all his needs.' Then Ananda led the monk to the Garden of the Helpless Food Giver and gave him a good dwelling. Then the monk said to Ananda: 'Reverend, please completely purify the dwelling for me, decorate it with the seven precious jewels, and hang silk banners, streamers, and umbrellas, etc.'
