"Pa" refers to the mind. If it is said to be the mind, since it is invisible and without equal, it is not a form. If it is not a form, then what is the use of giving? Therefore, there is no giving, no cause, and no effect. If someone says that there is no cause and no effect, it should be known that this is cutting off the roots of virtue. Again, someone might think: If the donor gives for the sake of the Buddha's image, or the image of a god, or the length of life, or for the deceased parents, then there is no receiver. If there is no receiver, then it is impossible for the fruition to ripen. If there is no fruition, then it becomes without cause. If there is no cause, then it becomes without effect. Whoever thinks in this way and says that there is no cause and effect should know that this is cutting off the roots of virtue. Again, someone might think: There is no father, and there is no mother. If it is said that parents are the cause of sentient beings, and sentient beings are born, then in this way, they would be born constantly and without interruption. Why? Because the cause is always present. But in reality, they are not born constantly, so it should be known that parents do not exist. Again, someone might think: There is no father, and there is no mother. Why? If the body of sentient beings exists because of parents, then one person should have both male and female characteristics. But since neither exists, it should be known that sentient beings do not arise from parents. Again, someone might think: The birth of sentient beings is not due to parents. Why? Because sentient beings are seen to be different from their parents, such as in body, form, mind, behavior, conduct, and dwelling. Therefore, parents are not the cause of sentient beings. Again, someone might think: In all the world, there are four kinds of non-existence. That is, non-existence before birth, like when clay is still a lump, pots and so on do not exist; non-existence after cessation, like when a pot is broken and no longer exists; non-existence of one in another, like a horse not being in a cow, and a cow not being in a horse; and ultimate non-existence, like a rabbit's horn and a turtle's hair. The parents of sentient beings are also like these, non-existent.

This is similar to the four cases mentioned above. If someone says that the cause of sentient beings is parents, then when parents die, the child does not die. Therefore, I think that the cause of sentient beings is not parents. Again, some think that if parents are said to be the cause of sentient beings, then sentient beings should always arise from the cause of parents. But this is not the case, as there are also spontaneous births and births from moisture. Therefore, I think it should be understood that sentient beings do not arise from the cause of parents. Again, some think that sentient beings exist naturally, not arising from the cause of parents. For example, a peacock becomes pregnant after hearing the sound of a dragon, and a bluebird becomes pregnant after drinking the tears of a male bird, and a bird keeper also becomes pregnant after seeing a male bird dancing. When thinking like this, if one does not meet a virtuous friend, one should understand that this is cutting off the root of virtue. Again, some think that there are no good or bad consequences in all the world. Why is that? Because some sentient beings possess the ten virtues and are happy to give alms, diligent in merit, but suffer from physical pain such as illness, face death in their prime, lose wealth, and are tormented by sorrow and suffering. Some engage in the ten non-virtues, full of desire, jealousy, laziness, and sloth, not practicing virtues, but are healthy, free from illness, long-lived, possess much wealth and jewels, and are free from the torment of sorrow and suffering. Therefore, I think it should be understood that there are no good or bad consequences. Again, some think, I have heard the noble ones say in the past that some people do good, but after death, many fall into the three lower realms; some people do evil, but after death, they are reborn in the heavens or as humans. Therefore, I think it should be understood that there are no good or bad consequences. Again, some think that all the noble ones hold dualism, some say that killing will ripen good results, some say that killing will
