The remainder of everything that is cut off also appears. If wisdom is the same as that, what is there to see that is manifest? If wisdom is able to eliminate afflictions, then look. How are those afflictions like the heretics who are not in the six great cities, but appear in the city of auspicious grass, they are the kind that appear elsewhere. Thus, since afflictions do not appear elsewhere, know that wisdom cannot eliminate them. Son of the lineage, all dharmas are naturally empty in their own way, no one can create them, and no one can prevent them. Birth is also different, and cessation is also different, no one has done it. Son of the lineage, if one meditates on samadhi, one will obtain such a state of truly knowing and truly seeing. Therefore, I said in the Sutra: If a monk meditates on samadhi, he will see the nature of the arising and ceasing of the five aggregates. Son of the lineage, if one does not meditate on samadhi, one will not even know the things of the world, let alone the transcendental. If there is no samadhi, one will fall into a cliff even when walking on a smooth road. The mind focuses on other dharmas, but the mouth speaks different words, the ears hear different sounds, and the mind understands different meanings. One intends to write other letters, but the hand writes different letters, and one intends to go on other paths, but the steps go in other directions. If one meditates on samadhi, one will achieve great benefits, and even achieve unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. Son of the lineage, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who possesses two dharmas can accomplish great benefits. What are the two? Samadhi and wisdom. Son of the lineage, just as a hard object breaks when pulled hard, so too is the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who meditates on these two dharmas. Son of the lineage, just as when uprooting a hard tree from its roots, it is easier to shake it first and then pull it out, so too are the samadhi and wisdom of a Bodhisattva, first shaking it with samadhi and then pulling it out with wisdom. Just as a person washing clothes first washes with ashes and then washes with clear water to become clean, so too are the wisdom and samadhi of a Bodhisattva.

It is the same. Son of the family, just as one first reads and then understands the meaning, so too are the samadhi and wisdom of a Bodhisattva. Son of the family, just as a brave man first puts on armor and weapons, and then goes to battle and defeats the enemy, so too are the samadhi and wisdom of a Bodhisattva. Son of the family, just as a blacksmith puts gold into a crucible and melts it at will, so too are the samadhi and wisdom of a Bodhisattva. Son of the family, just as one sees the reflection of one's face in a clear mirror, so too are the samadhi and wisdom of a Bodhisattva. Son of the family, just as one first levels the ground and then sows seeds, and just as one first receives instructions from a Khenpo and then contemplates the meaning, so too are the samadhi and wisdom of a Bodhisattva. Therefore, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva cultivates these two dharmas, he will obtain great benefit. Son of the family, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva cultivates these two dharmas, he will be able to master the five senses and endure many sufferings, such as hunger, thirst, cold, heat, beatings, insults, scolding, being eaten by angry beasts, and the pain of being bitten by mosquitoes and gnats. He will be able to endure all these sufferings. He will always restrain his mind and be careful in his actions, he will not engage in unrighteous deeds for the sake of gain and fame, he will not be defiled by sudden afflictions, he will not be deceived by all wrong views, he will always abandon all unwholesome thoughts, and before long, he will awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment in order to accomplish the benefit of sentient beings. The forty-first chapter. Son of the family, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva cultivates these two dharmas, he will not be shaken by the four strong winds of perversion, just as Mount Sumeru, the king of mountains, cannot be moved by the four winds. Just as the banner of Indra cannot be moved, so too he cannot be moved by the teachers of the heretics. Wrong
