That called "Rāhula" is the later example. How is it an earlier and later example? For example, a water tree dies as soon as it bears fruit, and it is similar to a foolish person finding a place of healing. Also, like a mule that does not live long when pregnant, that is an earlier and later example. How is it a pervasive example? I heard this from the sutras: In the Heaven of the Thirty-Three, there is a tree called Pārijāta Its roots are embedded fifty yojanas into the ground. Its height is one hundred yojanas. Its branches and leaves cover fifty yojanas in all directions. When the leaves ripen, they turn yellow, and the gods see them and generate a joyful mind. The leaves do not last long before they fall, and when the leaves fall, they are also very happy. The branches also do not last long before they change color, and when the branches change color, they are also happy. From the change of color, it does not last long before they blossom, and when they blossom, they are also happy. From the blossoming, it does not last long before sprouts grow, and when they see the sprouts, they are also very happy. The sprouts do not last long before they open, and when they open, their fragrance spreads for fifty yojanas. Its light shines for eighty yojanas, and at that time, during that period, the gods enjoy great bliss under it for three months of summer. Son of good family, my attendants are also like that. The color of the leaves turning yellow is like my attendants wanting to renounce. The falling of the leaves is like my attendants shaving their hair and beards. The change of color is like my attendants taking ordination after performing the work of begging and the four activities. The blossoming is like my attendants generating the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. The growing of sprouts is like the bodhisattvas of the ten bhūmis seeing the Buddha-nature. The opening is like the bodhisattvas attaining unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. The spreading of fragrance is like the countless sentient beings of the ten directions keeping the vows of morality. The shining of light is like the unobstructed name of the Tathāgata pervading the ten directions. Summer months

The so-called "Va" three letters are like the three Samadhis. The gods of the Thirty-three Heavens enjoy happiness, just like the Tathagatas attain the permanence, bliss, self, and purity of great Nirvana, which is a universal example. Son of good family, for example, "Tantojog" is not completely taken, but a little, or a lot, or if it is said to be completely taken. In this regard, the face of the Tathagata is like a full moon, which is an example of taking a little. Son of good family, for example, if someone has never seen milk before, and asks another person what milk is like, that person says it is like water, honey, and conch. Water is the characteristic of wetness, honey is the characteristic of sweetness, and conch is the characteristic of color. Even though three metaphors are given in this way, one still does not recognize milk. Son of good family, how I use a butter lamp to illustrate sentient beings is also the same. Son of good family, there is no river on the other side of the water, sentient beings are also like that. On the other side of abandoning the five aggregates, there are no other sentient beings. Son of good family, just as there is no other vehicle on the other side of abandoning the frame, wheels, axle, rim, and spokes, sentient beings are also like that. Son of good family, if you want to match the metaphor of the butter lamp, listen carefully, and I will explain it to you. Among them, the wick is an example of the twenty-five existences, butter is an example of craving, light is an example of wisdom, dispelling darkness is an example of destroying ignorance, warmth is an example of the noble path. When the butter is exhausted, the light and flame will disappear, and when the existence of sentient beings is exhausted, the Buddha-nature will be seen. In this regard, although there are name and form, they will not become bondage, and although they dwell in the twenty-five existences, they will not be stained by the existences. Simhanada Bodhisattva asked: World Honored One, the five aggregates of sentient beings are empty and devoid of anything, then who will receive the teachings and accumulate the accumulations of Bodhi? The World Honored One replied: Son of good family, all sentient beings have the mind of mindfulness, the mind of wisdom, the mind of generation, the mind of diligent effort, the mind of faith, and Samadhi.
