If you wish to (do so), you should strive to be content with little desire. So, what is the ultimate peace? There are two kinds of peace: peace of mind and peace of body. Among them, peace of body means never committing the three non-virtuous actions of the body. Peace of mind means not committing the three non-virtuous actions of the mind, and that is peace of body and mind. Also, peace of body means not relying on the fourfold assembly, and not being attached to the activities performed by the fourfold assembly. Peace of mind means never being defiled by desire, hatred, and ignorance, and that is peace of body and mind. Some monks have peace of body but not peace of mind, some monks have peace of mind but not peace of body, some monks have peace of both body and mind, and some monks have neither peace of body nor peace of mind. Among them, peace of body but not peace of mind refers to monks who meditate in remote places, and although they have abandoned the fourfold assembly, their minds are always thinking of desire, hatred, and ignorance, and that is called peace of body but not peace of mind. Peace of mind but not peace of body refers to monks who, although they attend to and rely on the fourfold assembly, kings, and ministers, have completely cut off desire, hatred, and ignorance, and that is called peace of mind but not peace of body. Those who have peace of both body and mind are the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Those who have neither peace of body nor peace of mind are the ordinary, vulgar people. Why is that? Because ordinary, vulgar people, even if they have peace of body and mind, cannot deeply realize impermanence, suffering, selflessness, and impurity, so ordinary, vulgar people cannot engage in the actions of body, speech, and mind. Those who have wrong views, have broken the four root vows, and have committed the five heinous crimes, such people cannot be called peaceful in body and mind. So, what is diligence? If a monk wants to completely purify the actions of body, speech, and mind, thereby abandoning all non-virtuous actions and cultivating all virtuous actions, that is diligence. Such diligence also abides in the six mindfulnesses. What are the six? They are the Buddha and the Dharma.

I, the Sangha, and, discipline, and, generosity, and, mindfulness of the gods, this is the correct mindfulness closely abiding. Having the correct mindfulness closely abiding, obtaining samadhi, is called correct samadhi. Obtaining correct samadhi, thereby understanding all dharmas like the sky, is called correct wisdom. Having correct wisdom, thereby abandoning all afflictions, is called liberation. Obtaining liberation, thereby praising the qualities of liberation for all sentient beings, liberation is constant, unchanging, and immutable. Saying this is called praising the qualities of liberation, liberation is the unsurpassed great nirvana. Moreover, great nirvana is the pacifier of the fire of all afflictions. Moreover, nirvana is also called refuge and abode. Why is that? Because it is the refuge from the fierce winds and rain of afflictions. Moreover, nirvana is called protector and refuge. Why is that? Because it enables transcendence from all fears. Moreover, nirvana is called island. Why is that? Because it cannot be swayed by the four great floods. What are the four floods? The flood of desire, the flood of existence, the flood of views, and the flood of ignorance, therefore nirvana is called island. Moreover, nirvana is called the ultimate refuge. Why is that? Because ultimately all happiness is obtained. Even if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva possesses these ten kinds of dharma, they still cannot clearly see the Buddha-nature. Furthermore, there are four kinds of renunciants, therefore they cannot obtain the four fruits of a Shramana. What are the four? Four evil desires, namely the desire for clothing, the desire for food, the desire for bedding, and the desire for existence, these are the four evil desires, the sickness of renunciation. For this, four kinds of good medicine can cure this sickness. What are they? Using worn-out robes can cure a monk's evil desire for clothing. Using alms can cure the evil desire for food.
