Believing in evil companions, at that time Devadatta released mad elephants, causing them to rush towards the Buddha. As soon as those mad elephants saw the Buddha, they immediately tamed themselves. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, extended his hand and stroked the heads of the mad elephants, and taught them the Dharma, causing them to generate the mind of unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. Great King, even beings who have been born into the animal realm, once they encounter the Buddha, can completely destroy the ripening of their karma of being born into the animal realm, what need is there to mention those born in the human realm? Great King, you should understand this in this way. If one encounters the Buddha, all sins will be completely purified. Great King, before the Buddha, the Bhagavan, had manifestly awakened to unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, countless hosts of maras gathered before the Bodhisattva. At that time, the Bodhisattva, with the power of patience, thoroughly subdued the minds of the evil maras, and taught the Dharma to the maras, causing them to generate the mind of unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, has such great power of merit. Great King, in the wilderness monasteries, there were many yakshas who killed many beings. At that time, the Tathagata, for the sake of the merchant Norzang, went to the place where the yakshas of the wilderness monastery were, and taught them the Dharma. The yakshas of the wilderness monastery, having heard the Dharma spoken, were greatly delighted and rejoiced, and offered the merchant Norzang to the Buddha, and generated the mind of unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. Great King, in Shravasti, there was a butcher named 'Wide', who slaughtered countless sheep in a single day. Shariputra saw him, and he took the eight precepts for one day and night. By this cause and condition, he passed away and was born as the son of the northern protector, Avalokiteshvara. If even the close attendant of the Tathagata has such great merit, what need is there to mention the Buddha, the Bhagavan? Great King, to the north of the Chakravada mountains, there is a city called 'Crushed Stone', where there is a king called 'Dragon Seal'.

He killed his father for the sake of the kingdom. Having killed his father in this way, he felt extremely remorseful, abandoned the kingdom's rule, and arrived where the Tathagata was, requesting to be ordained. The Blessed One (Bhagavan) said to him, "Good," and granted him to become a Bhikshu. His sins were completely purified, and he generated the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Great King, therefore, it should be known that the Tathagata possesses immeasurable and limitless qualities. Great King, the Tathagata has a younger brother named Devadatta, who caused dissension in the Sangha, drew blood from the Buddha's body with malicious intent, and also killed a Bhikshuni named Padma, committing three acts of immediate retribution. The Tathagata also taught him various kinds of Dharma, and his sins were gradually purified. Therefore, the Tathagata is called the Great Physician, not like the six heretical teachers. Great King, if you trust the words I speak, then quickly go to where the Buddha Blessed One resides! If you do not trust, then consider it carefully! Great King, the great compassion of the Buddha Blessed One pervades all, and he does not teach only one or a few aspects of the sacred Dharma. He treats friends and enemies equally, and does not only place one person in unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, while not placing others. The Tathagata is not only the teacher of the fourfold assembly, but the teacher of all beings in the world, including gods, humans, nagas, pretas, animals, and hell beings. Therefore, all sentient beings should generate the perception of the Buddha Blessed One as being like their parents. Great King, the Tathagata does not only teach the Dharma to the high-born and noble King Pasenadi, but also teaches the Dharma to the low-born and base Upali and others. He not only accepts the food offered by Ubarata and Anayata, but also accepts the food offered by the poor Sudatta. He does not only teach the Dharma to the sharp-witted Shariputra and others.
