Or knowing that one will die suddenly, or the king losing his throne and fleeing to another country, or hearing that one is suffering from a serious illness that cannot be cured, or hearing that one has broken the law and done something wrong, it feels like this. I have heard from wise scholars in the past that if the actions of body, speech, and mind are not completely pure, that person will inevitably fall into hell. Hearing this, if I am truly destined to fall into hell, how can I sleep peacefully? Now I have no supreme great physician, no Dharma medicine to cure the suffering of my illness. The doctor said: Great King, excellent, very excellent! Although you have done wrong deeds, it is excellent that you have given rise to a deep sense of repentance and possess a sense of shame and embarrassment! Great King, the Buddha, the Bhagavan, always says this: These two pure Dharmas become the protection and refuge of sentient beings. What are these two? They are shame and embarrassment. Embarrassment is not doing what should not be done. Shame is not letting others do it. Embarrassment is feeling ashamed oneself. Shame is repenting and confessing to others. Embarrassment is feeling ashamed before people. Shame is feeling ashamed before the gods, and that is embarrassment and shame. One who has no embarrassment and shame should not be called a person, but an animal. Because one has embarrassment and shame, one respects parents and teachers. Because one has shame and embarrassment, one says that one has parents, siblings. Great King, it is excellent to have embarrassment and shame! Great King, please listen to what I have heard from the Buddha, the Bhagavan. There are two kinds of wise people: those who do not do evil, and those who repent and confess after doing it. There are also two kinds of foolish and ignorant people: those who do evil, and those who conceal it after doing it. Therefore, if one has done evil deeds in the past, but later repents and confesses, and after confessing, vows not to do it again because of shame and embarrassment, it is like putting a precious jewel into muddy water, the water will become clear, or like the clouds and mist dissipating, the moon will be fully revealed, evil

Regret after doing it is the same. If the king also regrets and confesses, and has shame and embarrassment, then the evil deeds will be eliminated and completely purified. Great King, there are two kinds of wealth: one is to be rich in various kinds of cattle, horses, and infantry; the other is to be rich in gold, silver, and wealth. Even if you have many horses and cattle, you cannot compare to a single precious jewel. Great King, sentient beings are also the same: one is rich in sins, and the other is rich in virtues. Even if you commit many sins, you cannot match a single virtue. I have heard from the words of the Buddha Bhagavan that with a mind diligent in one virtue, many sins can be destroyed. Great King, just as a small diamond can pierce Mount Sumeru, a small flame can burn everything, and a small poison can cause sentient beings to die, even a little virtue can destroy great sins. Although that virtue is called small, in reality it is great. Why? Because it can destroy great sins. Great King, as the Bhagavan said, hiding is with leakage, and not hiding is without leakage. Therefore, whoever regrets and confesses is without leakage. Therefore, for the evil deeds that have been done, do not hide the sins. By not hiding sins, the evil deeds will be lightened. If you confess with shame and embarrassment, the evil deeds will be completely eliminated. Great King, just as a few drops of water can fill a large container, so too, a virtuous mind can destroy great evil deeds. If you hide evil deeds, the evil deeds will grow again. If you regret and confess with shame and embarrassment, the evil deeds will be completely eliminated. Therefore, as the Buddha Bhagavan said, wise and intelligent people do not hide evil deeds. Great King, believing in cause, believing in effect, and believing in the ripening of karma is very good. Great King, do not grieve! If any sentient being
