The high is the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. The not high is the mind of the Thus-Gone One. Son of good family, if the mind is high, then one is not called a Thus-Gone One. Therefore, the Thus-Gone One is called the Well-Gone One. Furthermore, well-being is a virtuous friend. Gone is the fruit of a virtuous friend. Son of good family, this is the meaning of the world. A virtuous friend is the first arising of the mind. The fruit is the great complete nirvana. The Thus-Gone One is so called because he does not abandon the first arising of the mind and attains the great complete nirvana. Therefore, he is called the Well-Gone One. Furthermore, well-being is goodness. Gone is existence. Son of good family, this is the meaning of the world. Among them, goodness is seeing the Buddha-nature. Existence is the great nirvana. Son of good family, although the nature of nirvana is not truly existent, the Buddha, the Blessed One, speaks of it as existent in terms of the world. Son of good family, it is like a person in the world saying that one who has no son has a son, or saying that there is a road where there is no road. Complete nirvana is also spoken of as existent in terms of the world. The Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, are called the Well-Gone Ones because the great complete nirvana is spontaneously accomplished. Son of good family, how is it that this is worldly knowledge? Son of good family, the world is the five aggregates. Knowledge is knowing. The Buddha, the Blessed One, is extremely skilled in the five aggregates, therefore he is called worldly knowledge. Furthermore, the world is the five desires. Knowledge is non-attachment. Because one is completely unattached to the five desires, one is also called worldly knowledge. Furthermore, the world is the immeasurable and countless realms of the eastern world. Those that the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas do not know, do not see, do not realize, the Buddha, the Blessed One, knows, sees, and realizes. Similarly, the realms of the southern, western, northern, four intermediate directions, upper, and lower worlds are also the same.

Therefore, the Buddha, the Bhagavan, is the knower of the world. Furthermore, the term "world" refers to all inferior beings. "Knowing" refers to the noble beings who understand the causes and effects of virtue and vice. The Hearers and Solitary Buddhas do not know this, but only the Buddha knows it alone. Therefore, the Buddha, the Bhagavan, is the knower of the world. Furthermore, "world" is called lotus. "Knowing" is called non-attachment. Son of lineage, that is the meaning of the world. "Lotus" is called the Tathagata. "Non-attachment" is because the Tathagata is not stained by the eight worldly dharmas, therefore the Buddha, the Bhagavan, is called the knower of the world. Furthermore, the knower of the world is what Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are called. Why is that? Because Buddhas and Bodhisattvas see the world, they are called knowers of the world. Son of lineage, just as one lives by means of food, so food is called sustenance, similarly, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are called knowers of the world because they see the world. How is it unsurpassed? "Surpassed" means cutting off, because it cannot be cut off, it is unsurpassed. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, has no afflictions, so it cannot be cut off, therefore the Buddha, the Bhagavan, is called unsurpassed. Furthermore, "surpassed" is called having contention. "Unsurpassed" is without contention. Because the Tathagata has no contention, the Buddha, the Bhagavan, is unsurpassed. Furthermore, "surpassed" is called being able to be refuted by words. "Unsurpassed" is not able to be refuted by words, because what the Tathagata speaks cannot be refuted by all sentient beings, therefore the Buddha, the Bhagavan, is unsurpassed. Furthermore, "surpassed" is called having a superior. "Unsurpassed" is called without a superior, because the Buddhas of the three times have no passing away, therefore the Buddha, the Bhagavan, is unsurpassed. Furthermore, "surpassed" is called new and old. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, is completely beyond sorrow...
