The three vehicles are taught. The measure of life is also immeasurable and countless, and the Tathagata is the same as this. Therefore, the Buddha is called Tathagata. Then, how does one become an Arhat? All the dharmas of the world are called enemies. The Buddha has destroyed these, so he is called an Arhat. The four Maras are called the enemies of the Bodhisattva. When the Buddha, the Bhagavan, was also a Bodhisattva, he destroyed the four Maras with the wisdom of omniscience, so he is called an Arhat. Furthermore, an Arhat is also called complete abandonment. In the time of the Bodhisattva, he completely abandoned immeasurable afflictions, so he is called an Arhat. Furthermore, an Arhat is also called the bliss of the Buddhas of the past. In the past, when he was a Bodhisattva, he experienced various sufferings for sentient beings for immeasurable and countless kalpas, but there was no discomfort, and he was always happy. The Tathagata is also the same as this, so he is called an Arhat. Furthermore, he is called an Arhat because all in the world, gods and humans, offer him with divine flowers, garlands, victory banners, streamers, and various musical instruments. Then, how is one perfectly enlightened? Perfectly enlightened means not inverted. Complete means that there are no four inversions that have not been realized. Furthermore, perfectly enlightened means practicing asceticism. Complete means that by the cause of practicing suffering, one must know that one will experience the result of suffering. Furthermore, perfectly enlightened means the middle way of the world. Complete means that if one diligently practices the middle way, one will surely know that one will attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. Furthermore, perfectly enlightened means that it can be counted, measured, and estimated. Complete means that it cannot be counted, measured, or estimated. Therefore, the Buddha is called perfectly enlightened. Son of good family, the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas also have perfect enlightenment, but that is not true perfect enlightenment. Why is that? Because perfect enlightenment

The five aggregates, twelve sense bases, and eighteen realms are also known by Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, so they are not called Perfectly Enlightened. Why are they not called Perfectly Enlightened? Son of good family, if the two Lesser Vehicles contemplate only the aggregate of form for immeasurable eons, they will not fully know it. Therefore, Hearers and Solitary Buddhas are not called Perfectly Enlightened. Then, what is meant by "endowed with knowledge and conduct"? Knowledge is the attainment of immeasurable virtuous results. Conduct is conduct itself. Among them, the virtuous result is unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment. "Conduct" refers to discipline and wisdom. Because one reaches unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment with the feet of discipline and wisdom, it is called "endowed with knowledge and conduct." Furthermore, knowledge is intelligence, conduct is auspiciousness, and feet are the fruit. Son of good family, these are called worldly meanings. Intelligence is liberation, auspiciousness is unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment, and the fruit is the great complete nirvana. Therefore, it is called "endowed with knowledge and conduct." Furthermore, knowledge is called appearance, conduct is called action, and feet are called fruit. Son of good family, this is the worldly meaning. Appearance is called mindfulness, action is the six perfections, and the fruit is unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment. Furthermore, knowledge is the three knowledges: the knowledge of enlightenment, the knowledge of the Buddha, and the knowledge of ignorance. Among them, the knowledge of enlightenment is the Perfection of Wisdom, the knowledge of the Buddha is the knowledge of the Buddha itself, and the knowledge of ignorance is the ultimate of emptiness. "Endowed" means having cultivated many virtuous deeds for the sake of sentient beings for countless eons. "Feet" means clearly seeing the Buddha-nature. Therefore, it is called "endowed with knowledge and conduct." Then, what is meant by "Well-Gone"? "Well" is high, and "Gone" is not high. Son of good family, this is the worldly meaning.
