There is no characteristic of having seen. Son of good family, because of that reason, I previously said this to Shariputra. Shariputra, all that is included in the world, including ascetics, Brahmins, gods, demons, Brahma, and humans, all that is not known, not seen, and not understood, the Thus-Gone One knows, sees, and understands all. Bodhisattvas are also the same. Shariputra, what is known, seen, and understood by those included in the world, I and the Bodhisattvas know, see, and understand all. What is not known, not seen, and not understood by all those included in the world is this: I do not know, do not see, do not understand, but these sentient beings of the world say, 'I know, I see, I understand' about what is known, seen, and understood. Shariputra, the Thus-Gone One knows and sees all, but does not say, 'I know and see,' and all Bodhisattvas are the same. Why is that? If the Thus-Gone One thinks that he knows, sees, or understands, then he should not be called Buddha Bhagavan or Bodhisattva, but a low child. The Bodhisattva Light Protector also said to the Bhagavan, 'Bhagavan, you said to Shariputra, "What is known by the world is known by me, and what is not known by the world is also known by me." What does that mean?' The Bhagavan said, 'Son of good family, all those included in the world do not know, do not see, do not understand the Buddha-nature. If they know, see, or understand, they should not be called worldly people, but Bodhisattvas. Worldly people do not know, do not see, do not understand the twelve categories of scriptures, the twelve links of dependent origination, the four inversions, the four truths, the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, and the great complete nirvana. If they know, see, or understand, they should not be called worldly people.'

Named Bird Bodhisattva. Sons of good family, these are what worldly people do not know, do not see, do not understand. Then, how do worldly people know, see, and understand? For example, the god Brahma, the Lord of Power, the eight-armed one, nature, time, dust, dharma, non-dharma, the Lord of Loving-kindness, the beginning of the world, having an end and being eternal, the two views of annihilation and permanence, from the first dhyana to the realm of neither perception nor non-perception, saying that it is liberation, and so on. Sons of good family, this is what worldly people know, see, and understand. Bodhisattva Mahasattvas also know and see these things in this way. Bodhisattvas know, see, and understand in this way, but if they say they do not know, do not see, do not understand, that would be a lie. Speaking lies leads to faults, and by the power of faults, beings will fall into hell. Sons of good family, if a man, woman, renunciant, Brahmin, or anyone at all says that there is no path, no enlightenment, no nirvana, that is a heretic, belonging to the retinue of Mara, called slandering the Dharma. Such slandering of the Dharma is slandering all the Buddhas. That person cannot be called a worldly person, nor can they be called a non-worldly person. At that time, having heard these words spoken by Light Protector, he praised the Buddha with these verses: Having compassion for all beings, I take refuge in him. Since he extracts the poisonous arrow of suffering, He is therefore known as the King of Physicians. The healing of worldly physicians, Is only a temporary recovery, and it relapses again. The healing of the Thus-Gone One, Never relapses from that. The Bhagavan, with the nectar of medicine, Universally bestows it upon beings. If beings can obtain it, They will obtain the deathless and unborn. The Thus-Gone One, for our sake, Demonstrated complete nirvana. Beings who obtain the teaching, Will obtain the unarising and unceasing. Having spoken these verses, Bodhisattva Light Protector again said this to the Bhagavan:

To. As the Tathagata said, all things that are unknown, unseen, and not understood by all beings in the world, the Bodhisattva knows, sees, and understands all. If the Bodhisattva is also a worldly person, then it is not reasonable to say that the Bodhisattva knows, sees, and understands what worldly people do not know, see, and understand. If he is not a worldly person, then what is the difference? The Tathagata said: Good son, a Bodhisattva is both a worldly person and not a worldly person. Those who do not know, do not see, and do not understand are called worldly people. Those who know, see, and understand should not be called worldly people. You asked what the difference is, and I will tell you. Good son, whether male or female, upon hearing the sutra of complete nirvana, immediately generates faith and aspires to unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, is called a worldly Bodhisattva. Just as all beings in the world do not know, do not see, and do not understand, the Bodhisattva, like worldly people, does not know, does not see, and does not understand. After hearing the sutra of complete nirvana, the Bodhisattva knows, sees, and understands what worldly people do not know, do not see, and do not understand. Having thus known these things, he thinks to himself: By what means, by what diligence, can I know, see, and understand? He also thinks: This can be obtained by maintaining pure precepts with a mind of extreme devotion. Good son, at that time, the Bodhisattva, by that cause and that condition, will always maintain pure precepts in whatever future life he is born into. Good son, thus, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, being pure in precepts, is always free from the intrusion of pride, evil views, and doubts, wherever he is born. He will never say that the Tathagata has entered ultimate complete nirvana. This is the Bodhisattva who is pure in precepts.
