The mind will not smell fragrant odors. Son of good family, furthermore, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva also vows thus: Rather cut off the tongue with a sharp knife, than to be attached to delicious flavors with a mind of desire. Son of good family, furthermore, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva also vows thus: Even if a sharp axe were to chop my body into pieces, I would not be attached to many tactile sensations with a mind filled with desire. Why is that? Because by that cause and condition, yogis will be born in the hells of sentient beings, the realm of animals, and the world of Yama. Light Protector, thus it is called the Bodhisattva Mahasattva completely guarding the precepts. The Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having greatly guarded the precepts, wishes for all sentient beings. By that cause and condition, may all sentient beings greatly guard the precepts, the pure precepts, the extremely virtuous precepts, the non-diminishing precepts, the unmixed precepts, the Great Vehicle's precepts, the non-retrogressing precepts, the precepts that accord with the mind, the ultimate precepts, and the precepts that reach the other shore be perfected. Son of good family, when the Bodhisattva Mahasattva thus trains in completely purifying the precepts, initially he will abide in the immovable ground. Why is it called the immovable ground? Because when the Bodhisattva abides in the immovable ground, he does not move, does not fall, does not regress, and is not destroyed. Son of good family, for example, Mount Sumeru, the king of mountains, cannot be moved, fall, or be destroyed even by the most violent wind. The Bodhisattva Mahasattva abiding in that is also the same, he cannot be moved by forms, sounds, smells, tastes, or tactile sensations. He will not fall into the hells of sentient beings, the realm of animals, and the world of Yama. He will not regress to the state of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, and he will not be destroyed by the winds of many views, nor will he become a perverted livelihood.

Son of the family, furthermore, the so-called unmoving means not being moved by desire, hatred, and ignorance. Furthermore, the so-called non-falling means not falling into the four defeats. Furthermore, the so-called non-returning means not returning from the discipline to household life. Furthermore, the so-called indestructible means not being destroyed by not contradicting the Mahayana sutras. Furthermore, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva is not moved by the demon of afflictions. He will not fall into the demon of aggregates. Although there is the demon of the sons of gods until the essence of enlightenment, he will not turn back from the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Nor will he be destroyed by the demon of death. Son of the family, in this way, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva is said to be very diligent in the conduct of the noble ones. Son of the family, why is it called the conduct of the noble ones? The conduct of the noble ones is so called because it is practiced by the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Why are the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas called noble ones? Because they and others possess the noble Dharma, because they realize that all Dharmas are empty in their own nature. Therefore, they are called noble ones. Furthermore, because they possess the noble discipline, they are called noble ones. Because they possess the noble samadhi and wisdom, they are called noble ones. Furthermore, because they possess the seven noble riches of faith, discipline, modesty, shame, learning, wisdom, and equanimity, they are called noble ones. Furthermore, because they possess the seven limbs of the noble path, they are called noble ones. Therefore, it is called the conduct of the noble ones. Son of the family, furthermore, when the Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the conduct of the noble ones, he examines this body from the crown of the head to the soles of the feet: hair, nails, teeth, unclean filth, skin, flesh, tendons, bones, spleen, kidneys, heart, lungs, liver, gallbladder, intestines, stomach, the two containers of digestion and non-digestion, feces and urine, saliva, snot, tears, brain, skull, feet, pus, and blood.

I see it filled with nothing but impurities such as bones. When a Bodhisattva contemplates in such a one-pointed manner, who controls this "I"? Where does it reside? Deeply contemplating who controls the "I," he thinks to himself: Is this bone the "I"? Or is there something other than the bone? At that time, the Bodhisattva abandons the skin and flesh, and focuses solely on the skeleton. He thinks to himself: The color of the bones is also different, being blue, yellow, red, white, and like the wings of a pigeon. Thus, the characteristics of the bones are not the "I." Why is that? Because the so-called "I" is not blue, yellow, red, white, or like the wings of a pigeon. When a Bodhisattva contemplates so deeply with a one-pointed mind, all attachment to form will be pacified. He also thinks to himself: These bones also arise dependently. The bone of the heel of the foot depends on the tibia, the tibia depends on the fibula, the fibula depends on the knee. The bone of the knee depends on the bone of the thigh, the bone of the thigh depends on the hip bone, the hip bone depends on the bone of the waist, the bone of the waist depends on the vertebrae, the vertebrae depend on the ribs. Also, the vertebrae depend on the bone of the neck, the bone of the neck depends on the bone of the cheek, the bone of the cheek depends on the teeth and the skull. Furthermore, the occipital bone depends on the scapula, the scapula depends on the bone of the upper arm, the bone of the upper arm depends on the bone of the forearm, the bone of the forearm depends on the bone of the palm, the bone of the palm depends on the bones of the fingers. Thus, all the bones are interdependent, and when the great Bodhisattva contemplates in this way, he realizes that all the bones of the body exist separately. By contemplating so deeply, he will completely abandon the three kinds of attachment: attachment to form, attachment to power, and attachment to the soft touch. The great Bodhisattva, the bones before
