Son of good family, conditioned dharmas are broadly of two types: form dharmas and non-form dharmas. Non-form dharmas are mind and mental dharmas. Form dharmas are earth, water, fire, and wind. Son of good family, mind is impermanent. Why is that? Because its nature is to perceive and to have discrimination. Son of good family, from the distinct nature of eye consciousness to the nature of mind consciousness, they are also distinct. Therefore, it is impermanent. Son of good family, from the distinct object of form to the object of dharma, they are also distinct. Therefore, it is impermanent. Son of good family, from possessing eye consciousness to possessing mind consciousness, they are distinct. Therefore, it is impermanent. Son of good family, if mind were permanent, then eye consciousness alone would be able to perceive all dharmas. Son of good family, since eye consciousness is distinct from mind consciousness, know that it is impermanent. Similar dharmas arise and cease momentarily, so foolish children see it that way and grasp it as permanent. Son of good family, because the characteristics of cause and condition are destructible, it is called impermanent. For example, eye consciousness arises from the conditions of eye faculty, form, light, and attention. When ear consciousness arises, the conditions are also distinct. From what is not a condition of eye consciousness to mind consciousness, they are also distinct, and should be understood in the same way. Furthermore, son of good family, because the causes and conditions of all conditioned things are destroyed, mind is impermanent. For example, the mind that meditates on impermanence is different, and the mind that meditates on suffering, emptiness, and selflessness is also different. If mind were permanent, then by constantly meditating on impermanence, one would not realize suffering, emptiness, and selflessness. What need is there to mention realizing permanence, bliss, self, and purity? For that reason, in the teachings of the tirthikas, permanence, bliss, self, and purity

Cannot be gathered. Son of the lineage, therefore the dharma of the mind is definitely impermanent. Or, son of the lineage, the nature of the mind is different, therefore it is impermanent. For example, the nature of the mind of the Hearers is different, the nature of the mind of the Solitary Buddhas is different, and the nature of the mind of the Buddhas is also different. The minds of all the heretics are of three kinds: the mind of the renunciates, the mind of those who live at home, and the mind that is separated from living at home. The mind that possesses solitude is also different, the mind that possesses suffering is also different, the mind that possesses neither pleasure nor suffering is also different, the mind that possesses desire is also different, the mind that possesses hatred is also different, and the mind that possesses ignorance is also different. The characteristics of the minds of all the heretics are also different. For example, the mind that possesses ignorance is also different, The mind that possesses doubt is also different, the mind that possesses wrong views is also different, and the mind of the conduct of going and staying is also different. Son of the lineage, if the mind were permanent, it would not distinguish the differences between blue, yellow, red, white, and purple. Son of the lineage, if the mind were permanent, it would become a race that forgets all the dharmas to be remembered. Son of the lineage, if the mind were permanent, the act of reading and reciting would become a race that increases and is born. Son of the lineage, if the mind were permanent, it would become a race that speaks of what has been done, what is being done, and what will be done. Because there is what has been done, what is being done, and what will be done, one should know that the mind is definitely impermanent. Son of the lineage, if the mind were permanent, there would be no hatred and no love. It would be neither hatred nor love. If the mind were permanent, it would become a race that says "my things" and "other people's things" or "death" and "birth." If the mind were permanent, even if actions were done, it would become a race that is born and increases. Son of the lineage, therefore, the nature of the mind is different, and because it is different, one should know that it is impermanent. Son of the lineage, what I have explained here as the meaning of impermanence for non-form dharmas is this.
