Truth exists, but the truths of cessation and the path do not exist. Therefore, they perceive what is not cessation as cessation, what is not the path as the path, what is not the result as the result, and what is not the cause as the cause. Therefore, for them, there is no pure path, no duality. Manjushri further inquired: "According to what the Blessed One said, if permanence, self, pleasure, and purity are considered the true meaning, then the tirthikas also have true truths, but the Buddha's Dharma would not have them. Why is that? Because the tirthikas also say this: 'All conditioned phenomena are permanent.' How are they permanent? Because the ripening of karma, both pleasant and unpleasant, and so on, does not change. Pleasant is experiencing the result of the ten virtues, and unpleasant is the ripening of the ten non-virtues. If all conditioned phenomena were impermanent, then who would experience the ripening of the fruit after those who have performed actions die and transmigrate to the next life? Therefore, all conditioned phenomena are permanent, and they are called permanent because of the cause of cutting off life. Blessed One, if all conditioned phenomena were impermanent, then both killing and being killed would become impermanent. If they were impermanent, then sentient beings would experience unpleasant actions in hell. If sentient beings must experience the ripening of hell, then the conditioned phenomena would not be truly impermanent. Blessed One, thinking with one-pointed mind, memory is also permanent. For example, remembering something from the age of ten, one can still remember it at the age of one hundred and not forget it, which is also called permanent. If it were impermanent, then who would remember the things seen before? Therefore, all conditioned phenomena are not impermanent. Blessed One, all memories are also permanent. For example, if a person has previously seen another person's hand, foot, head, neck, etc., they will recognize them as soon as they see them later. If it were an impermanent thing, then the previous characteristics would have disappeared. Blessed One, all actions change due to long-term habituation.
