Is it a mushroom? Thinking in the mind, what kind of sky is it? If observed for a long time, is it definitely a mushroom at first? It is perceived as a multi-storied building. A Bodhisattva abiding on the tenth ground, seeing the Tathagata-garbha in his own body, is also like this, not easily and clearly understood. Son of good family, for example, a very weak prince, playing and frolicking from night until dawn, cannot easily and clearly recognize everything in the morning. A Bodhisattva abiding on the tenth ground, seeing the Tathagata-garbha in his own body, is also like this, and cannot clearly recognize it. Son of good family, for example, a minister is sent by the king, walking in the darkness of the night, seeing a herd of cows in the light of lightning, thinking in his mind, is this a cow? Is it a forest? Is it a cloud? What kind of house is it? That person thinks it is a cow, but cannot be certain. A Bodhisattva abiding on the tenth ground is also like this, not being able to properly recognize the Tathagata-garbha in his own body. Son of good family, again, for example, monks abiding in discipline observing water without insects, cannot easily recognize whether what is moving in the water is an insect or dust. If observed for a long time, it is known to be dust, but cannot be definitely recognized. A Bodhisattva abiding on the tenth ground is also like this, not being able to easily and clearly recognize the Tathagata-garbha in his own body. Son of good family, for example, when the sky is foggy and the sky is not clear, seeing a small child from afar, one cannot recognize whether it is livestock, a bird, a person, or what. If observed for a long time, it is seen to be a child, but cannot be clearly recognized. A Bodhisattva abiding on the tenth ground, seeing the Tathagata-

And it is not clearly realized. A Bodhisattva who abides on the ten grounds also sees the Tathagata-garbha in his own body in the same way, but it is not clearly realized. Son of good family, the so-called Buddha-nature is thus extremely profound, difficult to see and realize, and only a Buddha can realize it, but it is not possible for a Shravaka and a Pratyekabuddha to realize it. Son of good family, a wise and intelligent person should thus examine the Tathagata-garbha and distinguish it. Then, Bodhisattva Dharanimdhara again asked the Blessed One, saying: Blessed One, since the Buddha-nature is so profound and difficult to see, how can those with eyes of flesh see it? The Blessed One said to Dharanimdhara: Son of good family, for example, even the gods of the realm of neither perception nor non-perception are not realized by the two vehicles, but they are realized by believing in the teachings of the sutras. Son of good family, Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas rely on the Great Nirvana Sutra and also realize that there is a Tathagata-garbha in their own bodies, and it is the same. Son of good family, therefore, one should strive diligently to practice the Great Nirvana Sutra. Son of good family, the Buddha-nature is only known by the Buddha, but it is not known by Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Again, Bodhisattva Dharanimdhara asked the Blessed One: Ignorant and foolish beings who are not noble say that all sentient beings have a self. The Blessed One said: For example, a prince and a poor man become friends and visit each other's homes. At that time, the poor man saw that the prince had a very good sword and developed a desire for it. Later, the prince took the sword and went to another place, and the poor man later slept in another person's house, and when he fell asleep, he spoke in his sleep, muttering sword, sword. The person next to him heard him say this and seized him and presented him to the king. Then, the king said to that person, you are always muttering sword, sword
