If I diligently cultivate the fields, by that cause and condition, I will obtain an imperishable retinue. Bodhisattva Light Increase again asked the Blessed One: By what cause and what condition do sentient beings have dry mouths and lips? The Blessed One said to Light Increase: If someone does not know that the Three Jewels are permanent, by that cause and condition, their mouths and lips will always be dry. If a person cannot distinguish or understand the six tastes, such as sweet, salty, hot, sour, bitter, and alkaline. All sentient beings, due to ignorance and delusion, do not know that the Three Jewels are permanent, therefore their mouths and lips are always dry. Noble son, for example, if there is a sentient being who does not know that the Tathagata is permanent, know that this person is blind. If there is a sentient being who knows that the Tathagata is permanent, although that person has flesh eyes, I say that they possess divine eyes. Noble son, for example, if someone knows that the Tathagata is permanent, that person has been diligent in this sutra for a long time, know that they possess divine eyes. If someone already possesses divine eyes, but does not know that the Tathagata is permanent, this person is called a flesh eye possessor, this person does not know my limbs and cannot know others, therefore they are called flesh eye possessors. Noble son, for example, the Tathagata always acts as the father and mother of all sentient beings. Why is that? The Tathagata teaches the Dharma with one voice to various sentient beings, two-legged, four-legged, many-legged, and legless, and those various different ones each understand individually, and they each think in their hearts that the Tathagata is speaking only to me, therefore they are called like parents. Noble son, for example, after a baby is born, even if they reach sixteen months old, although they can try to speak, they cannot understand or express themselves, their parents teach them to speak

Speaking as Sapa said, if it is shown slowly, are the parents of this child also unable to communicate and have not left? The answer was no. The Blessed One said: Noble son, the Tathagata is also like that, following all kinds of sentient beings, he teaches the Dharma with all kinds of languages. In order to propagate the true Dharma, he shows all kinds of behaviors as appropriate. If the Tathagata speaks in a language that is consistent with them, is that also a lack of communication? The answer was no. Blessed One, for what reason? The voice of the Tathagata is like the roar of a lion, following all kinds of worldly people, he teaches the true Dharma to sentient beings with all kinds of languages. From the Sutra of the Great Nirvana, this is the fourth chapter, the chapter on the Tathagatagarbha. Chapter Four, The Chapter on the Tathagatagarbha.
