There is no support. To strive for other impermanent dharmas is to have things and defilements. To strive for other permanent dharmas is to have Buddha, Dharma, Sangha, and true liberation. Therefore, it should be understood that the nature of the Buddha is the Middle Way, completely free from the two extremes. When the true Dharma is taught, inferior beings doubt it. For example, if a weak patient drinks butter, their body will become light and happy. The dharmas of existence and non-existence are not completely different in nature. For example, the four great elements are incompatible in nature, and one becomes the antidote to the other. A skilled doctor accurately judges this based on which element is dominant. Son of lineage, the Tathagata is also like this, like a doctor treating all sentient beings, knowing the various different natures of all defilements, thereby completely eliminating them. He teaches the secret essence of the Tathagatagarbha, the Buddha-nature, which is completely pure, unchanging, and immutable. If one says it exists, then for wise and intelligent people, it is a race of attachment; if one says it does not exist, then it is lying. If one says it exists, then for the noble race that does not speak at all. Furthermore, for the race that loves to argue and quarrel, they want to realize the true nature of reality. Inferior beings, because they love to argue and quarrel, do not understand the secret essence of the Tathagatagarbha. If one says suffering, then foolish beings will think that this body is impermanent. If one says everything is suffering, then they do not understand that the body has the nature of happiness. If one says impermanent, then foolish beings will think that all bodies are impermanent, clinging to them like not throwing away broken tiles. In this regard, wise and intelligent people will distinguish and will not say that everything is impermanent in every way. Why? Because there is a seed of Buddha-nature in my body. If one says no-self, then foolish beings will think that all Buddhist teachings are no-self. Wise and intelligent people think that no-self is only a nominal designation, distinguishing it as not real. Having understood this, they will not have doubts about it. If one says that the Tathagatagarbha is emptiness, then foolish beings

Upon hearing this, they develop views of annihilation or non-existence. Wise and intelligent individuals, however, distinguish the Tathagata as permanent, unchanging, and unmoving. If one says that liberation is like an illusion, then foolish people will assume that those who have attained liberation possess the nature of demons. Wise and intelligent individuals will discern that the sole Tathagata, like a lion among men, is permanent, abiding, unchanging, and unmoving. If one says that actions arise from the condition of ignorance, then foolish people, upon hearing this, will differentiate between knowledge and ignorance as two separate dharmas. Wise and intelligent individuals realize that by nature, they are non-dual. Whatever is non-dual is the very nature of reality. If one says that consciousness arises from the condition of actions, then foolish people will grasp actions and consciousness as two separate entities. Wise and intelligent individuals realize that by nature, they are non-dual. Non-duality is the very nature of reality. If one says that these ten virtues and ten non-virtues are things to be done, and these are things not to be done; this is the path to higher realms, and this is the cause of lower realms; this is pure dharma, and this is black dharma, then foolish people will grasp them as two. Wise and intelligent individuals realize that by nature, they are non-dual, and non-duality is the very nature of reality. If one insists that all dharmas are suffering, then foolish people will grasp them as two. Wise and intelligent individuals realize that by nature, they are non-dual, and non-duality is the very nature of reality. If one says that all actions are impermanent, or that the Tathagatagarbha is also impermanent, then foolish people will grasp them as two. Wise and intelligent individuals realize that by nature, they are non-dual, and non-duality itself is the very nature of reality. All dharmas are without self; if one says that the Tathagatagarbha also lacks reality, then foolish people will grasp them as two. Wise and intelligent individuals realize that by nature, they are non-dual, and non-duality itself is the very nature of reality. Self and non-self are by nature non-dual. The meaning of the Tathagatagarbha is thus inconceivable.
