Even a slight transgression, if violated even a little, will result in experiencing immeasurable suffering. Knowing this, just as turtles hide their six limbs, I will diligently guard my body. Furthermore, some Vinaya holders say this: no matter how the precepts are violated, unpleasant results will not ripen. If someone says this, do not associate with that person. The Blessed One said in verses: Whoever transgresses even a little of the Dharma, That person is speaking falsely, Because they do not see the next world, So they think they can do any evil. Therefore, do not associate with that person. If my Buddha Dharma is so pure, then what need is there to mention that grave offenses, Sanghavasesa, and Parajikas are considered unpleasant? Therefore, these Dharmas must be diligently guarded. If they are not guarded, then what can be called discipline? I have also said in the Sutra Pitaka: from the four Parajikas to the slightest transgression, if violated, they will be punished. If ordinary people do not guard the precepts, how can they see the Buddha-nature? All sentient beings have Buddha-nature, and it is through guarding the precepts that it can be seen. By seeing the Buddha-nature, one will manifest complete and perfect enlightenment. Among the nine divisions of the Sutra Pitaka, there is no Sutra more extensive than this. I have not said that there is Buddha-nature. Although it is not said in that Sutra, know that it truly exists. Whoever speaks in this way, know that they are my true attendants. Bodhisattva Light Protector said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, you said that all sentient beings have Buddha-nature. If this has not been heard in the nine divisions of the Sutra Pitaka, and now it is shown and said that there is Buddha-nature, will it not be a Parajika offense? The Blessed One said: As you said, it will not be a Parajika offense. Son of good family, for example, if someone says that there are seven jewels in the ocean, but there is no eighth, there is no fault.

There is no fault. Similarly, even if it is said in the nine sutras that there is no Buddha-nature, there is no fault. Why is that? The Blessed One said in the Great Vehicle Ocean of Wisdom that there is Buddha-nature, but the two vehicles do not know or see it. Therefore, there is no fault in saying that there is none. Thus, this realm of practice is known by the Buddhas, but it is not the realm known by the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Son of good family, if a person has not heard of the very profound Tathagatagarbha, he will not know that there is Buddha-nature. What is the very profound essence? It is the very extensive Mahayana Sutra. Son of good family, some non-Buddhists say that "self" is permanent, and some say that "no-self" is annihilation. The Tathagata is not like that, but says that there is self and also says that there is no self, so it is called the Middle Way. Among them, what the Buddha said as the Middle Way is that all sentient beings have the Buddha-nature, but they do not know or see it because it is obscured by afflictions. Therefore, one should diligently practice the method of cutting off afflictions. If someone says that, know that he has not abandoned the four root downfalls. If one does not say this, it is called abandoning the four root downfalls. Among them, if someone says this: I have attained the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Why is that? Because there is Buddha-nature. Having Buddha-nature will undoubtedly attain the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Therefore, I say that I have attained enlightenment. If someone says that, know that this person has committed a root downfall. Why is that? Although there is Buddha-nature, if one does not diligently practice the means of accomplishment, one will not be able to see it. Because one cannot see it, one cannot attain the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Son of good family, therefore, the Dharma of the Buddha is very profound and inconceivable. Then, Bodhisattva Dhruvakirti again said to the Blessed One:
