Some monks say that the Buddha allowed the use of gold, silver, and so on. Some say that he did not allow it. Do not stay together with those who say it is allowed and those who say it is not allowed. Do not perform the Uposatha and the karma arising from the Vinaya together. Even in small matters, do not drink water from the same spring, and do not share living utensils. If this is said, why do you still say that the Buddha allowed it? World Honored One, if the gods among the devas allow the use and possession of something, your Sangha should not use it. If it is used, it should not hinder the Uposatha and the karma arising from the Vinaya, as well as the requests and petitions, and the affairs that the Sangha should do. If the Uposatha and the karma arising from the Vinaya, as well as the requests and petitions, and the affairs of the Sangha are done together, then immediately after death, sentient beings will fall into hell, just as people die after eating the Kalaka fruit. Son of good family, there is also this example, such as in a village or market, if a medicine seller sells a good medicine that grows on a snow mountain, many people will buy it. Even if others sell a medicine similar to that one, everyone does not recognize it, so everyone comes to the medicine seller to buy medicine and asks, do you have medicine that grows on a snow mountain? The medicine seller then uses a medicine similar to that one and falsely claims that it is a medicine that grows on a snow mountain to sell it. Because the physical eye cannot recognize it, one thinks in their heart, I have bought and obtained a good medicine that grows on a snow mountain. Ninth fascicle. In the Sangha of the Shravaka with Light, there are Sanghas such as the nominal Sangha, the true Sangha, and the harmonious Sangha, whether they uphold the precepts or break them. For that Sangha, one should treat them like offerings, respect, prostrations, and so on. Laypeople cannot recognize it, just as people cannot recognize a good medicine that grows on a snow mountain. What is upholding the precepts? What is breaking the precepts? What is the true Sangha? What is the nominal Sangha? Only those with the divine eye can know and recognize it. With Light, if a layperson compares a Bhikshu

If one knows for certain that someone's discipline is corrupted, one should not offer them service, prostrations, offerings, and so on. If one knows for certain that someone practices the eight unexamined dharmas, one should not offer them service, provide them with offerings, or offer them prostrations and offerings, and so on. If there are those within the sangha whose discipline is corrupted, one should not offer them prostrations and offerings, and so on, merely because they wear monastic robes. Then, Bodhisattva Light Protector again said to the Blessed One: "Excellent! Excellent! Blessed One, the Tathagata has spoken correctly, and I shall uphold it. For example, a vajra is different from other jewels. As the Blessed One has said, monks should abide in the four dharmas. What are the four? Abiding in the Dharma and not abiding in the person, abiding in the meaning and not abiding in the word, abiding in wisdom and not abiding in consciousness, abiding in the definitive meaning and not abiding in the interpretive meaning. These four dharmas should be realized, not the four types of people. The Blessed One said: "Son of good family, what is called abiding in the Dharma is the Tathagata's complete entry into great nirvana. The Buddha's Dharma is the dharmata of all dharmas. What is called dharmata is the Tathagata. Therefore, the Tathagata is permanent and unchanging. If someone says that the Tathagata is impermanent, that person does not see the dharmata and does not understand it. If one does not see the dharmata and does not understand it, one cannot abide in or rely on it. If the four types of people mentioned earlier appear in the world, protecting and upholding the sacred Dharma, they should be known and understood, and one should abide in and rely on them. Why? Because that person is very skilled in the profound meaning spoken by the Tathagata after careful consideration, and therefore knows that the Tathagata is permanent and unchanging. If one says that the Tathagata is impermanent or has the nature of change and transformation, that is not possible. These four types of people are called Tathagatas. Why? Because that person is very skilled in what the Tathagata has spoken after careful consideration.
