Has passed away. Nirvana is inexhaustible. Inexhaustible is the Buddha-nature. Buddha-nature is inviolable. Inviolable is the Unsurpassed Perfectly Complete Buddha. Then, Bodhisattva Light-Holder said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, if Nirvana, Buddha-nature, inviolability, and Tathagata are the same in meaning, why are the Three Refuges spoken of? The Blessed One said to Light-Holder: Son of good family, sentient beings, frightened by samsara, turn to the Three Refuges. By the Three Refuges, one should recognize that it is Buddha-nature, inviolability, and Nirvana. Son of good family, some dharmas have one name but different meanings. Some dharmas have both different names and different meanings. One name with different meanings is that the Buddha is permanent, the Dharma is permanent, the Sangha of monks is permanent, Nirvana and space are permanent, this is called one name with different meanings. Names and meanings that are both different are that the Buddha is The name is feeling. The Dharma is non-feeling, the Sangha is harmony. Nirvana is liberation. Space is non-virtuous, unobstructed, this is also called both different names and different meanings. Son of good family, the Three Refuges are also similar to this, both names and meanings are different. There is nothing that is the same. Therefore, I said to the mother of beings, Gautami: Gautami, do not make offerings to me, make offerings to the Sangha. Making offerings to the Sangha is called making offerings to the Three Jewels. Then, the mother of beings said: If there is no Buddha and Dharma in the Sangha, why does making offerings to the Sangha become making offerings to the Three Jewels? I said to her: You doing as I have taught is making offerings to the Buddha. Wanting liberation is making offerings to the Dharma. Accepting the Sangha is making offerings to the Sangha. Therefore, son of good family, the Three Jewels cannot be said to be one. Son of good family, the Blessed One sometimes

Sometimes it is said that one is three. Sometimes it is also said that three are one. Therefore, the realm of the Buddhas is not something that can be understood by Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. The Venerable Mahakashyapa again said to the Buddha: "Bhagavan, what is the meaning of what the Bhagavan said, that ultimate happiness is Nirvana? What is called Nirvana is the abandonment of the body and the abandonment of wisdom. If both body and wisdom are abandoned, then who will experience happiness?" The Bhagavan said: "Son of good family, for example, a person who has eaten his fill, goes out because of abdominal discomfort and vomits, and then comes back, his friends ask him: 'How do you feel now, has the discomfort gone away?' He says: 'It's gone, there's no discomfort.' The Tathagata is also like that, finally freed from the twenty-five existences, completely enters Nirvana, and reaches the realm of supreme bliss, without shaking, without cessation and extinction. All feelings are cut off, so there is no feeling of happiness. This absence of feeling experience is called eternal happiness. If someone says that the Tathagata has a feeling of happiness, that is not established. Therefore, ultimate happiness is Nirvana. Nirvana is complete liberation. Complete liberation is the Tathagata." The Venerable Mahakashyapa again said to the Buddha: "Is non-birth and non-death liberation?" "Yes, yes. Son of good family, non-birth and non-death is liberation. Thus liberation is the Tathagata." The Venerable Mahakashyapa again said to the Buddha: "If non-birth and non-death is liberation, then the nature of space is also non-birth and non-death, is space also the Tathagata? Is the Tathagata not liberation?" The Bhagavan said to the Venerable Mahakashyapa: "Son of good family, it is not like that. Why is it not like that? Son of good family, for example, the sound of the Kalavinka bird and the Jivajiva bird is very pleasant, but it is not the same as the sound of a crow. Bhagavan, the sound of a crow is very unpleasant, and cannot be compared to the sound of the Jivajiva bird."
