The Buddha thus abides happily in the great complete Nirvana. Therefore, he is called the one who possesses the Dharma nature of permanence and immutability. Just as Jambudvipa, so too will Purvavideha in the east, Aparagodaniya in the west, and Uttarakuru in the north flourish. Just as the four continents are, so too is the realm of the three thousand great thousand worlds. The twenty-five existences are as explained in detail in the Sutra of Heroic Progress. Therefore, its meaning is the great complete Nirvana. Any Bodhisattva Mahasattva who abides happily in the great complete Nirvana has no fear in displaying such miraculous powers of clairvoyance. O Light Protector, therefore, do not say to Rahula that he is the son of the Buddha. Why is that? Because in the past, for immeasurable eons, I have been free from the desire for existence. Therefore, the Tathagata is said to possess the Dharma nature of permanence, immutability, and non-transience. Light Protector also asked: For what reason is the Tathagata called the one who possesses the Dharma nature of permanence? As the Blessed One said, when a lamp goes out, there is no place or direction. Similarly, the Tathagata is like that. After Nirvana, there is no place or direction. Did you not say that? The Blessed One said to Light Protector: Son of good family, do not say such things as, 'Just as when a lamp goes out, there is no place or direction, so too is the Tathagata like that. After Nirvana, there is no place or direction.' Son of good family, for example, if a man or woman lights a lamp, the lamp is filled with butter, according to the size of the butter container. As long as there is butter, there is light. If the butter runs out, the light will also disappear. The disappearance of light is like the exhaustion of afflictions. Even though the light is exhausted and gone, the lamp container does not disappear. The Tathagata is also like that. Even though afflictions are exhausted and gone, the Dharmakaya is eternally present. Son of good family, what do you think in your mind, and the lamp

Does a container suddenly disappear? Light-Protector (འོད་སྲུང་) replied, "No, Mother." The Bhagavan does not suddenly disappear, but it is like impermanence. If the Dharmakaya is like a container of ghee, then the container of a ghee lamp is also impermanent, so will the Dharmakaya also become impermanent like it? Son of good family, do not speak like that. What is known in the world as a container, and the unsurpassed Dharma vessel of the Buddha Bhagavan, although the container is impermanent, the Tathagata is not. For all dharmas, nirvana is permanent, because it is the nature of the Tathagata, it is called permanent. Moreover, son of good family, what is called the exhaustion of fire and ghee refers to the nirvana of an Arhat. Because all the afflictions of desire have been extinguished, it is like the exhaustion of fire and ghee. Non-returning once means there is still desire, because there is still desire, it cannot be said to be like the exhaustion of fire and ghee. Therefore, I previously said it was like the exhaustion of fire and ghee in order to refute the characteristics. But the Great Parinirvana is not like the exhaustion of fire and ghee. What is called non-returning once does not mean returning again and again. Not returning in the twenty-five existences, and not taking a stinking body, a worm body, and a poisonous body, so it is called non-returning. Taking a body again is called returning, but not taking a body is called non-returning. Having going and returning is called returning, having no going and no returning is called non-returning. Then, Bodhisattva Light-Protector said this to the Bhagavan: Bhagavan, is the meaning of what the Buddha Bhagavan said, speaking according to what was thought, like this? Why is that? Because the Buddha Bhagavan has words spoken according to what was thought, but there is no meaning spoken according to what was thought. For example, if a magician makes a wooden mechanical person, then this wooden person can be seen by everyone, but stretching, shrinking, lifting, and bending cannot be manipulated from the inside. The Buddha's Dharma is not like that, mind...
