Without attachment and without grasping, is the mind liberated from the defilements? He said: Manjushri, the Shravakas are not liberated without fear and without weariness. He said: Venerable one, since even the monks themselves are afraid when they think of that fear, what need is there to mention the first Bodhisattvas? Thus he spoke. He said: Manjushri, how are the Bodhisattvas liberated? He said: Venerable one, the Bodhisattvas are liberated without fear and without weariness. He said: Manjushri, thinking of what do you say that? He said: They are not afraid of hundreds of thousands of legions of demons, and they are not weary of teaching the Dharma to sentient beings. They are not afraid of accumulating immeasurable collections of merit, and they are not weary of accumulating immeasurable collections of wisdom. Then, the sons of the gods who had gathered there scattered various flowers upon Manjushri, the youth. Wherever Manjushri, the youth, appears, there the Tathagata is seen directly. The place where Manjushri, the youth, dwells also becomes a stupa. Who fully knows the Dharma taught by Manjushri, the youth? Those sentient beings who will fully know it will also fully possess all merit. Thus he spoke these words. Then, Manjushri, the youth, again said this to the great Shravaka Lamp of Wisdom: Venerable one, the Blessed One has said that among the Shravakas, you are the foremost in great wisdom. Is that wisdom the nature of conditioned phenomena, or is it the nature of unconditioned phenomena? If it is the nature of conditioned phenomena, then it will have arising and ceasing. If it is the nature of unconditioned phenomena, then it will contradict the three natures. He said: Manjushri, the noble ones show that they are distinguished by the unconditioned. He said: Venerable one, can the unconditioned be established? He said: Manjushri, it cannot, because there is no establishment in the unconditioned. He said: Then how do the noble ones show that they are distinguished by the unconditioned? When he had said this, the great Shravaka Lamp of Wisdom became silent.

Then, that Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One, Light of the Crown, spoke to Manjushri, who had become a youth, saying: "Manjushri, having heard what Dharma will cause a Bodhisattva Mahasattva to become irreversible from Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment, compose some Dharma doors, and you should explain them in this assembly." Manjushri replied: "Bhagavan, all the teachings of all the Dharma doors are the doors of tranquility, and those doors of tranquility are taught in tranquility itself." Again, at that time, a Bodhisattva named Dharma Wisdom, who had gathered in that assembly and was sitting there, said to Manjushri, who had become a youth: "Manjushri, are those desires, hatred, and ignorance taught by the Tathagata the doors of tranquility, and are they taught in the doors of tranquility itself?" He replied: "Son of good family, what do you think? From where do desire, hatred, and ignorance arise?" He replied: "Manjushri, desire, hatred, and ignorance arise from conception and various conceptions." He replied: "Son of good family, from where do conception and various conceptions arise?" He replied: "Manjushri, conception and various conceptions arise from perversion." He replied: "Son of good family, from where does perversion arise?" He replied: "Manjushri, perversion arises from the clinging to self and the clinging to what belongs to self." He replied: "Son of good family, from where do the clinging to self and the clinging to what belongs to self arise?" He replied: "Manjushri, the clinging to self and the clinging to what belongs to self arise from the view of the aggregates of destruction." He replied: "Son of good family, from where does the view of the aggregates of destruction arise?" He replied: "Manjushri, the view of the aggregates of destruction arises from self." He replied: "Son of good family, from where does self arise?" He replied: "Manjushri, self does not arise from anywhere. Non-arising is the arising of self. Why is that? Like this, even if I search in all ten directions, self cannot be found." He replied: "Son of good family, what is the door of the Dharma that cannot be found even if searched in all ten directions?" He replied: "Manjushri, tranquility itself is its door." He replied: "Son of good family, what is the door of tranquility?" He replied: "Manjushri, the door
