Absence itself is the gate of solitude. It is said: Son of lineage, I have considered this, that all the teachings of all the gates of Dharma are also the gate of solitude, and they teach that the gate of solitude is indeed the gate of solitude. When this teaching was given, eight hundred Bodhisattvas attained forbearance of the unoriginated Dharma. Then, Manjushri, having become a youth, extensively taught the Dharma there, and then rose from his seat and departed. The venerable Subhuti thought, if neither a Shravaka nor a Pratyekabuddha can cut off the flow of eloquence of Manjushri, having become a youth, how can we, without permission, speak with Manjushri, having become a youth? Then, the venerable Subhuti said this to the venerable Shariputra. Venerable Shariputra, how many miraculous powers and manifestations did Manjushri, having become a youth, see when he practiced in the Buddha-field? Shariputra said: Venerable Subhuti, I know through clairvoyance that when Manjushri, having become a youth, practiced in the Buddha-field, wherever the Buddha-field was dry, after Manjushri, having become a youth, had left, it was filled with water and covered with many lotuses. Wherever it was filled with water, it was filled with fire, and the touch of that fire was like sandalwood snake heartwood or the cloth of Kacalindi. Wherever emptiness became space, it was adorned with Brahma's palaces and filled with Bodhisattvas abiding in meditative absorption. Whatever is formed appears to be destroyed. Whatever is filled with evil destinies appears to be free from all evil destinies, and those beings also obtain the love generated by the aspects of the limbs of enlightenment. What is the love generated by the aspects of the limbs of enlightenment? If one enters into this samadhi, I will attain unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, and all beings who are afflicted by afflictions, desire, hatred, and ignorance

Thinking that the Dharma was taught in order to completely abandon desire, hatred, and ignorance. To abide in the samadhi of loving-kindness in this way is called loving-kindness generated by the aspects of enlightenment. Venerable Subhuti, at that time, at that moment, the thought arose in my mind: the miraculous power manifested by Manjushri Kumara, and the one manifested by myself, these two are the same. The mind of Manjushri Kumara, knowing the thought in my mind, in this great trichiliocosm, when a great fire was burning, he stood in the middle of the world and said to me: Venerable Shariputra, shall we transcend this world with your miraculous power, or shall we transcend it with my miraculous power? I said to him: Let us transcend this world with the swiftness of my miraculous power. Venerable Subhuti, I displayed all the swift transformations of my miraculous power, extinguished the fire within a bow-shot's distance around, and then together with Manjushri Kumara, we transcended that world in seven days. Then, at another time, in a world even more vast and boundless than that, when a great fire was burning, Manjushri Kumara stood in the middle of the world and said to me: Venerable Shariputra, with whose miraculous power shall we transcend this world? I said to him: Manjushri, let us transcend this world with your miraculous power. Then, Manjushri Kumara, with a manifest, direct miraculous power, with a single aspiration, covered that world with a net of lotuses, and then transcended it. After transcending it, he said to me: Venerable Shariputra, between the two of us, whose power is greater and whose miraculous power is swifter? I said to him: Manjushri, what do you think? Between a sparrow and a Garuda, whose power is greater?

Very quickly. He said: Venerable Shariputra, the speed of the Garuda, king of birds, is immeasurable and difficult to imitate. To that, I said: Like the speed of the Manjushri bird Languli, one should see the speed of my magical power. Just as the speed of the Garuda, king of birds, is even a hundred thousand times greater, your magical power should be seen as faster. He said: Venerable Shariputra, haven't you thought that the mental discriminations of your mind, the magical powers possessed by Manjushri the Youthful, and what I possess are equal? I said to him: Manjushri, just as you said, I think so. He said: Why do you think so? I said to him: Because the Shravakas have not severed the connection of habitual tendencies, even if they are not the same, I know for myself that they are the same. He said: Venerable Shariputra, well done! Well done! It is just as you said. Why is that? Venerable Shariputra, in the past, there were two hermits by the great ocean, one named Dharma-desire and the other named All-giving. Among them, Dharma-desire possessed the five superknowledges and was completely absorbed in playing with the superknowledges. All-giving, through the power of knowledge and mantras, was able to travel in the sky above. Then, for the sake of enjoying themselves from time to time, they would go from this shore of the ocean to the other shore. After going, they would return and dwell in their respective places. Then, the hermit All-giving thought that my magical power and that of Dharma-desire were the same. Then, at another time, they went from this shore of the ocean to the other shore and arrived at the island of the Rakshasis. There, the Rakshasis made pleasant musical sounds, which the hermit All-giving heard. He also saw those Rakshasis and fell from the middle of the sky to the ground. His knowledge and mantras became ineffective. Then, the hermit Dharma-desire, having generated a compassionate mind, took hold of him with his right hand and brought him back to his own place.
