Please protect those who are weary of samsara! Protector, you are our father and mother, please show the way to us who are bound by bondage! Son of good family, for example, those who offer alms to the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened Buddha, this is the accumulation of merit they speak of. Son of good family, for example, if there were twelve Bodhisattvas like me, as many as the sands of the Ganges River, and they were also in the same place, placed in the heavenly realm for a kalpa with all the means of happiness, even they would not be able to count that accumulation of merit, let alone me alone dwelling in the abode of Yakshas? Son of good family, for example, I can count the amount of minute dust particles, but son of good family, I cannot count the accumulation of merit from alms.
