completely ripen them. All of them are placed on the path to enlightenment. Having placed them, they go to the realm of Sukhavati and listen to the Dharma from the Tathagata Amitabha. Then, the Bhagavan, who dispels all obscurations, asked the Bhagavan, saying: "Bhagavan, by what means will I be able to see you?" The Bhagavan replied: "Son of good family, if you come to this world of Saha in order to see me, pay homage to me, and attend to me." Then, the Bhagavan, who dispels all obscurations, asked the Bhagavan, saying: "Bhagavan, please allow the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Avalokiteshvara to go." The Bhagavan replied: "Son of good family, when sentient beings are completely ripened, at that time, the first Bodhisattva Mahasattva Avalokiteshvara will come." Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who dispels all obscurations (thought): "I am endowed with sins and live for a long time, separated from seeing Avalokiteshvara and become blind, let alone fall into the three lower realms?" Thinking thus, he remained. Then, the Bodhisattva who dispels all obscurations again asked the Bhagavan: "Bhagavan, when will the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Avalokiteshvara come?" Then, the Bhagavan smiled and said: "Son of good family, the time for the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Avalokiteshvara to come is not yet ripe. For example, son of good family, from the pores of the hair that descend, in the pores of the hair called nectar, there dwell countless billions of sons of gods. Some are first-ground Bodhisattvas, some are second-ground Bodhisattvas, some are third-ground Bodhisattvas, some are fourth-ground Bodhisattvas, some are fifth-ground Bodhisattvas, some are sixth-ground Bodhisattvas, some are seventh-ground Bodhisattvas, some are eighth-ground Bodhisattvas, some are ninth-ground Bodhisattvas, and some are tenth-ground Bodhisattvas. For example, the one who dispels all obscurations (thought): In the pores of the hair of the nectar drops, there are sixty mountains of gold and silver, and each mountain is six yojanas in height.

The mountains are there. Each and every mountain is adorned with ninety thousand golden ornaments at its peak. On each and every side, those who have generated the first thought of Bodhicitta reside. In those mountain kings, there reside countless Gandharvas, who constantly and uninterruptedly perceive the sound of cymbals in those pores of their body hair. For example, in the pores of the hair of the nectar drops that completely eliminate all obscurations, there are countless palaces adorned with divine jewels and pearls, exceedingly beautiful, pleasing to behold, of various kinds, adorned with hundreds of thousands of pearl nets. Those Bodhisattvas rest in those palaces and engage in Dharma talks. Then, having emerged from the palaces, they go to their respective walking places. Each and every walking place has seventy ponds. Some are completely filled with water endowed with eight qualities. Some are completely filled with flowers, such as Utpala flowers, lotuses, Kumuda flowers, Pundarika flowers, fragrant flowers, Mandarava flowers, and great Mandarava flowers. In those walking places, there are wish-fulfilling trees, with trunks that are red, leaves made of gold and silver, adorned with divine ornaments, with head ornaments, earrings, and clusters of garlands hanging down, with pearl nets and half-pearl nets hanging down, with arm ornaments hanging down, and also various other ornaments hanging down. In those walking places, those Bodhisattvas walk at night and recollect various aspects of the Great Vehicle. They recollect the place of Nirvana. They contemplate all the sufferings of Samsara. Having contemplated, they meditate on loving-kindness. The one who completely eliminates all obscurations, in that way, in that pore of hair, there are such Bodhisattvas. Descending from there, in the pore of hair called Vajra Gate, there reside hundreds of thousands of non-humans, adorned with necklaces, earrings, garlands, and various ornaments, and with very fine unguents. They always have faith in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, are single-mindedly devoted to the Dharma, and abide in loving-kindness.

In those pores, there are countless hundreds of thousands of mountains, some of which are of diamond, some of silver, some of gold, some of crystal, some of red lotus flowers, some of sapphire, and some of the seven precious substances. Son of good family, such signs appear in those pores. Son of good family, in those pores there are countless wish-fulfilling trees, coral trees, sandalwood trees, countless fragrant trees, countless hundreds of thousands of ponds, and celestial palaces adorned with crystal and silver, exceedingly beautiful, pleasing, and magnificent. Such palaces also appear. In those palaces, humans and non-humans rest. After resting, they speak of the Dharma, that is, they speak of the perfection of generosity, the perfection of discipline, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of meditation, and the perfection of wisdom. Having spoken of the six perfections in this way, they each walk in their respective walking places. Some walking places are mountains of gold, and some walking places are mountains of silver. Around those walking places, the trunks of the wish-fulfilling trees are red, the leaves are made of gold and silver, celestial ornaments hang down, headdresses and earrings, clusters of flower garlands hang down, armlets hang down, anklets hang down, semodos and half-semodos hang down, and precious semodos hang down. In those walking places, the wish-fulfilling trees stand like stacked houses, and in those walking places, humans and non-humans walk. While walking, they remember their weariness of samsara, Alas, suffering! Alas, suffering! Death is suffering! Alas, suffering! Poverty is also suffering! Alas, suffering! Separation from loved ones and those who are pleasing, and those who are displeasing.
