Therefore, all these Bodhisattva retinues were overwhelmed. Which Bodhisattvas abandon the realms of hell beings and animals, and abandon the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, uphold and subdue the pure Buddha-fields, uphold beings with pure minds, who are extremely subdued, who generate roots of virtue, those beings are called like flowers. Those who, among the extremely subdued ones who generate roots of virtue, perform the deeds of the Buddha, those are not Bodhisattva Mahasattvas like white lotuses. Brahmin, the objects of laziness for Bodhisattvas are four. What are the four? Wishing for pure Buddha-fields, wishing to perform the deeds of the Buddha for beings with pure minds, wishing not to speak of the Hearer and Solitary Realizer vehicles after attaining enlightenment, and wishing for long life after attaining enlightenment. These four are the objects of laziness for Bodhisattvas. Therefore, they are called Bodhisattvas like flowers, but they are not like white lotuses, nor are they called Mahasattvas. Do not say things like "so-and-so"; those Bodhisattvas should also be called Great Beings. Brahmin, for example, because of your aspiration, you are now in the presence of the Tathagata, among countless immeasurable Bodhisattvas, like a compassionate white lotus, born in a pure land of auspicious prediction. When you utter great compassion, commit the five heinous crimes, uphold the discipline among those who possess roots of non-virtue, and uphold the Buddha-field where the five degenerations are rampant, the Buddhas, Bhagavat, of the ten directions, even as many as the dust motes in Buddha-fields, will give you, a noble person, praise, saying "Well done!", and sending messengers, will give you the name "Possessing Great Compassion." All these retinues will also strive to perform the work of offering to you. Possessing Great Compassion, in the future, after one countless kalpa of the number of grains of sand in the Ganges has passed, when the second countless kalpa of the number of grains of sand in the Ganges arrives, in the Good Kalpa, in the world realm of Saha, where the lifespan of beings is one hundred and twenty years, and in a Buddha-field where aging and death are abundant, in a world that is blind, without guides, possessing roots of non-virtue, where beings are destroyed by evil paths, obtain great terror, commit the five heinous crimes, slander the noble ones, abandon the sacred Dharma, arising from the root of downfalls, filled with things such as those previously mentioned, you will transform from Tathagata, Possessing Knowledge and Conduct, to Buddha, Bhagavat, turning the wheel of beings, turning the wheel of Dharma, subduing the Lord of Desire and the Mara of Afflictions, pervading the boundless and limitless Buddha-fields of the ten directions with sound. For forty-five years, you will perform many such deeds of the Buddhas. Noble one, even after your unsurpassed complete nirvana, the sacred Dharma will remain for more than a thousand years. Noble one, even after your sacred Dharma has disappeared, the relics born from your body will also perform many deeds of the Buddhas, just as you have made aspirations, and as previously stated, you will tame beings for a long time. Son of good family, at that time, in a place called Residence Village, there was a Brahmin who said this: Noble one, when you practice the conduct of enlightenment in those countless kalpas, I will always attend to you with reverence, provide loving and harmonious provisions, and serve you with reverence as a friend. When you become the last existence, may I become your father. Noble one, may I become the supreme benefactor for your attainment of enlightenment, and may you prophesy me to unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment. Furthermore, at that time, the goddess of the ocean, named Mind of Utmost Gentleness, also said: From those countless kalpas until you become the last existence, may I become the mother who gives birth to you. May you, who are endowed with great compassion, attain enlightenment and prophesy me to unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment.
