Those who are without the three practices and the three evil practices, those who strive for them, those whose minds are disturbed by the darkness of affliction, and those who do not seek the three vehicles, then no one will be able to accomplish the practice of enlightenment. When beings live for a thousand years, what need is there to say? Those beings will also change to a life span of one hundred years. At that time, if beings do not even have the name of the root of virtue, what need is there for the practices of the root of virtue? For a while, the world is filled with the five degenerations, life is shortened, and it becomes one hundred years. At that time, when the intermediate kalpa of weapons is near, may I descend from among the gods and completely protect beings. May they abandon non-virtue and practice virtue. May beings be well established in the paths of the ten virtuous actions. May the afflictions of beings be completely purified by the paths of virtuous actions. May they also be joined to the three vehicles. May the five degenerations be completely abandoned. When beings live for eighty thousand years, may I also perfectly awaken to unsurpassed and complete enlightenment. May I teach the Dharma to beings with attachment, hatred, delusion, ignorance, jealousy, and stinginess, and may I also correctly join them to the three vehicles. O Venerable Bhagavan, if my wish is completely fulfilled, then for that reason, O Venerable Bhagavan, please prophesy my unsurpassed and complete enlightenment. O Venerable Bhagavan, when I have received such a prophecy, I will not seek the ground of the Hearers, by which vehicle I will quickly be liberated from samsara, nor will I seek the ground of the Solitary Buddhas. The Tathagata Jewel Essence spoke: "O Brahmin youth, these four are the objects of lazy Bodhisattvas. Some Bodhisattvas who possess these objects of laziness desire to remain in samsara for a long time: the precipice of views and samsara."

They will experience suffering in prison and will not quickly attain unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment. What are the four? That is, some Bodhisattvas have inferior discipline, inferior companions, inferior generosity, and inferior aspirations. How does a Bodhisattva have inferior discipline? That is, they do not restrain their bodily, verbal, and mental actions, their conduct is immoral, they associate and wander with sentient beings of the Hearer and Solitary Realizer vehicles, they do not completely give everything away, nor do they give to everyone, they give alms because they desire the glory and happiness of gods and humans, they do not fully accept the qualities of the Buddha-field adorned with superior intention, and they do not fully accept the aspiration to contemplate taming. A lazy Bodhisattva who possesses these four qualities will experience suffering in the prison of samsara for a long time and will not quickly attain unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment. If a Bodhisattva possesses four qualities, they will quickly awaken to unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment. What are the four? That is, they restrain their bodily, verbal, and mental actions, possess discipline, associate and wander with those who have truly entered the Great Vehicle, completely give everything away, and also give to everyone, generating compassion and giving alms in order to completely liberate sentient beings from suffering, and with superior intention, they uphold the qualities of the Buddha-field and the aspiration to contemplate taming. A Bodhisattva who possesses these four qualities will quickly awaken to unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment. These four qualities are the means by which Bodhisattvas draw near to the path. What are the four? That is, diligently striving in the perfections, giving the objects of gathering to sentient beings, manifestly cultivating the abodes of Brahma, and disporting with the superknowledges. Enlightenment
