The Chapter on the Earth. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahamati again said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, please explain the characteristic of the momentary destruction of all dharmas. Blessed One, how are all dharmas momentary?" The Blessed One said: "Mahamati, therefore, listen well and keep it in mind, and I will explain it to you." Mahamati said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, as you say, I will listen." The Blessed One said: "Mahamati, what is called all dharmas is like this: virtue and non-virtue, predicted and unpredicted, conditioned and unconditioned, worldly and transcendental, with faults and without faults, with outflows and without outflows, grasped and ungrasped, and so on. Mahamati, in short, mind, intellect, consciousness, and habitual tendencies are the cause of the five aggregates of grasping, and the habitual tendencies of mind, intellect, and consciousness increase, which are the virtues and non-virtues discriminated by ordinary people. Mahamati, abiding in the bliss of samadhi and the dharma seen through absorption is called the uncontaminated virtue of the noble ones. Mahamati, what is called virtue and non-virtue is like this: The eight consciousnesses. Which eight? They are like this: the Tathagatagarbha Alaya-consciousness, as well as mind, intellect, consciousness, and the collection of the five consciousnesses, which cannot be spoken of by non-Buddhists. Mahamati, the collection of the five consciousnesses is connected with mind, intellect, and consciousness, has the nature of virtue and non-virtue, arises and perishes mutually, and does not completely perish due to the continuity of the stream. It also arises and perishes after the body is produced. Because one has not realized that one's own mind is merely an appearance, another consciousness arises immediately after it ceases, which is the intellect that grasps the distinctions of the Dharmadhatu.

consciousness arises in conjunction with the five aggregates of consciousness and does not remain even for an instant; this is called momentary. Mahamati, that which is called momentary is the Tathagatagarbha, which is proclaimed as the Alaya-vijnana, is momentary because of the habit of consciousness born together with the mind. It is not momentary because of the habit of non-outflow. Ordinary people do not understand, because they are attached to saying momentary, so they do not understand that all dharmas are momentary, and that which is not momentary. Because they see it as annihilation, they also destroy the uncreated dharmas. Mahamati, the seven consciousnesses do not enter into samsara, nor do they experience suffering and happiness, nor are they the cause of liberation from suffering. Mahamati, the Tathagatagarbha experiences both suffering and happiness, entering and returning together with the cause. Because of being extremely intoxicated by the basis of abiding and the state of ignorance, ordinary people do not understand the view of momentariness, and their minds are completely controlled by discrimination. Furthermore, Mahamati, for example, gold, vajra, and the relics of the Tathagata, and the nature of obtaining excellence, will never be destroyed. Mahamati, if obtaining realization is momentary, then the noble ones would become non-noble ones, but the noble ones will not become non-noble ones. For example, gold and vajra will not decay even in long kalpas, why do ordinary people who are not good at explaining think that I am speaking expediently, and understand all internal and external dharmas as the meaning of momentariness? Bodhisattva Mahamati again asked the Bhagavan: Bhagavan, you said that if one perfectly practices the six paramitas, one will realize unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, so what are these six? The Bhagavan replied: Mahamati, there are three kinds of distinctions of paramitas, namely, the world.

And, transcendental, and the supreme of the transcendental. Great wisdom, for the worldly Paramita, is clinging to self and what belongs to self, and clinging to both extremes. Because of taking various places of birth, and being extremely attached to form, sound, smell, taste, and touch, therefore, the perfection of generosity Paramita is accomplished. Discipline, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom are also the same, which can perfect the manifest wisdom of each child's being, and will be born in the Brahma world. Great wisdom, the transcendental Paramita, is for the hearers and self-enlightened ones, because of falling into the clinging of Nirvana, therefore practicing the six Paramitas, and being attached to their own bliss of Nirvana. The supreme transcendental Paramita is to realize that all appearances of one's own mind are just thoughts, and because of clinging to one's own mind as dualistic, therefore not generating conceptual thoughts, and taking beings, and not having equal merit, and not clinging to the nature of one's own mind and form, For the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings, the generosity Paramita is generated. After generating the supreme application, not allowing conceptual thoughts to enter that object is discipline, which is the discipline Paramita. For that object, not generating conceptual thoughts and enduring, and fully knowing the object and the subject, that is the patience Paramita. Whenever, for the upper and lower parts of the night, diligently applying effort, and being in accordance with yoga without allowing conceptual thoughts to enter, that is the diligence Paramita. Extremely preventing conceptual thoughts, and not falling into the clinging of the Nirvana of hearers, that is the meditation Paramita. For this, with wisdom, individually examining the conceptual thoughts of one's own mind as unreal, thereby not falling into both extremes, and because the previous body's dwelling place has completely changed, therefore it will not be completely destroyed, and each individually obtaining the state of awakened noble ones, that is the wisdom Paramita. After that, the Bhagavan again for that meaning
