The earth also exists. Knowing in the moon also exists. Knowing in the sun also exists. Knowing in the lord also exists. Knowing in the unborn also exists. Knowing in the unceasing also exists. Knowing in emptiness also exists. Knowing in suchness also exists. Knowing in truth also exists. Knowing in thusness also exists. Knowing in the nature of Dharma also exists. Knowing in Nirvana also exists. Knowing in permanence also exists. Knowing in equality also exists. Knowing in non-duality also exists. Knowing in signlessness also exists. Knowing in liberation also exists. Knowing in being the path also exists. Knowing fully as it arises in the mind also exists. Great wisdom, such as these, countless names exceeding three hundred thousand without deficiency, this world and all others, like the moon in water, have neither arising nor ceasing, fully known. Those individual common people do not fully understand me, because they fall into two extremes. However, they respect and make offerings to me, because they are not skilled in the meaning of words, cannot distinguish names, and do not understand their own nature. They cling to various expressions and perceive the unborn and unceasing as having no substance. They do not understand the various different names of the Tathagata, such as Indra, Shakra, and the destroyer of cities, and because they are confused about their ultimate nature, they cling to all Dharmas as they are in the sound. Great wisdom, those foolish beings say this: meaning is just as it is, meaning is not other than sound. Why is that? Because there is no sound that does not contain meaning, therefore there is nothing other than sound. They say that only sound is understood. Great wisdom, those whose minds are burned by wrong views, because they do not fully understand the nature of sound, think that sound has arising and ceasing, but do not realize that meaning has no arising and no ceasing. Great wisdom, all sounds fall into letters, but meaning does not fall, because meaning has abandoned existence and non-existence, and has no birth and no form. Great wisdom, the Tathagata.

He does not show the Dharma that falls into letters, because the existence and non-existence of all letters are unattainable, so in other places, not falling into letters, he shows the Dharma. Great Wisdom, if someone says, 'The Tathagata does not show the Dharma that falls into letters,' this is a lie, because the nature of Dharma is separate from letters. Therefore, Great Wisdom, I and the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas do not speak or preach even a single letter. Why? Because all Dharmas are separate from letters. But it is not that it does not conform to the meaning, because speech is the discrimination of sentient beings. Great Wisdom, if all Dharmas are not spoken, then the teachings will be destroyed. If the teachings are destroyed, then the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Sravakas will not exist either. If these do not exist, then who will speak to whom about what? Therefore, Great Wisdom, Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas should not be attached to the sounds of spoken words, but should extensively preach the Dharmas of the Sutras as they are in reality. Thus, because the hopes and afflictions of sentient beings are not the same, I and other Buddhas show the Dharma in order to stop the mind, intellect, and consciousness of sentient beings with various different intentions, not for each to attain the state of self-aware noble wisdom. Great Wisdom, Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas who understand that all Dharmas are without appearance, that only their own minds appear, and who are free from two kinds of discrimination, should rely on meaning, not on letters. Great Wisdom, if any son or daughter of good family relies on letters, they will also cause themselves to fall away from the ultimate truth, and they will not be able to cause others to realize it, they will fall into the continuum of evil views, and proclaim to the assembly, because they are not skilled in all Dharmas, all grounds, and all signs, so even if they understand the types of words, they will not understand their meaning. If skilled in all Dharmas, all grounds, and all signs
