Everything is like that. Mahamati, just as the right horn of a cow is different from the left horn, and the left horn is different from the right horn. Therefore, it should be understood that the two horns are undoubtedly different. Similarly, long and short, and various forms are also different from each other. Mahamati, the Tathagata is also not different from the skandhas, dhatus, and ayatanas, nor is he not different. Similarly, the Tathagata is also not different from liberation, nor is he not different. Therefore, the Tathagata is indicated by the name of liberation. If the Tathagata and liberation were different, then it would manifest from the nature of form, and because it manifests from the nature of form, it would become impermanent. If it were not different, then the nature attained by the yogis would be without distinction, and because the yogis also see the distinction, therefore it is neither different nor not different. Similarly, knowledge and the knowable are also not different, nor are they not different. Mahamati, knowledge and the knowable are neither different nor not different, therefore they are neither permanent nor impermanent, not the doer, nor the done, not conditioned, nor unconditioned, not wisdom, nor the knowable, not nature, nor the basis of nature, not the skandhas, nor the difference of the skandhas, not the spoken, nor the speaker, not one, nor different, not both, nor neither, therefore it is free from all measures. That which is free from all measures is unspeakable. That which is unspeakable is unborn. That which is unborn is unceasing. That which is unceasing is tranquil. That which is tranquil is naturally nirvanic. That which is naturally nirvanic is without things and without causes. That which is without things and without causes is without objects. That which is without objects is beyond all elaborations. That which is beyond all elaborations is the Tathagata. What is the Tathagata?

That is the truly and perfectly enlightened Buddha. Great Wisdom is called the one who has truly and perfectly attained Buddhahood. The Great Wisdom who has truly and perfectly attained Buddhahood is free from the senses and all measures. Then, the Blessed One, in order to further explain that meaning, spoke these verses: Far removed from senses and measure, Devoid of things and without cause. Having abandoned mind and knowable, Nature and the base of nature as well. The aggregates, conditions, etc., enlightened by the Buddha, One and otherness cannot be seen. If seeing does not exist, Why then does discrimination arise? Neither done nor undone, Neither thing nor cause. Not an aggregate, nor dwelling in an aggregate, Nor is there any other mixture. As it is contemplated by that, All things do not exist. Nor should it be known as non-existent, That is the nature of Dharma. Because there is existence, there is non-existence, Because there is non-existence, there is existence. One should not grasp onto non-existence, Nor should one contemplate on existence. If confused by self and non-self, Then one only follows after words. Sinking into the two extremes, One destroys self and the world. If one is freed from all faults, And well contemplates the manner of "I", That is true realization, One does not slander the great guide. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahamati again asked the Blessed One, saying: "Blessed One, as mentioned in the sutras spoken by the Blessed One, there is also mention of non-arising and non-cessation. Furthermore, the Blessed One has also said that non-arising and non-cessation are euphemisms for the Tathagata. So, Blessed One, do you say non-arising and non-cessation because there are no things? Or is this another name for the Tathagata?" The Blessed One replied: "Mahamati, even though I have said that all dharmas are unborn and unceasing, the aspects of existence and non-existence do not appear." Mahamati asked the Blessed One: "Blessed One, if all dharmas are unborn, then the term 'dharma' should not become an object of focus, because all dharmas are unborn."

If there is Dharma in the name, please, Blessed One, declare it. The Blessed One said: Great Wisdom, well done, well done! Listen very well and keep it in mind, and I will explain and differentiate it for you. Great Wisdom said to the Blessed One: Thus, I shall listen. The Blessed One then spoke as follows: Great Wisdom, I, the Thus-Gone One, do not say that there is no entity. Nor do I speak of all dharmas because there is no birth and no cessation, because it does not depend on conditions. Although there is no birth and no cessation, it is not without meaning. Great Wisdom, what I have said, that the name of the Thus-Gone One of the Dharma Body arising from mind, namely "Unborn," is not the realm of practice for the Tirthikas, the Hearers, the Solitary Buddhas, and the Bodhisattvas who abide in the seventh ground. Great Wisdom, the Unborn is a term for the names of the Thus-Gone One. Great Wisdom, for example, Indra, a hundred thousand, the destruction of a city, and so forth, each entity has many names. It is not because there are many names that there are many entities, nor is it without its own nature. Similarly, Great Wisdom, I also have countless hundreds of thousands of three thousand names in this world of endurance that are heard by children. Although they each utter my name, they do not know the names of my Thus-Gone One. Great Wisdom, some beings know me as the Thus-Gone One. Some know me as the All-Knowing One. Some know me as the Buddha. Some know me as the Protector of the World. Some know me as the Self-Aware One. Some know me as the Guide. Some know me as the Excellent Guide. Some know me as the Complete Guide. Some know me as the Sage. Some know me as Brahma. Some know me as Vishnu. Some know me as Ishvara. Some know me as the Lord. Some know me as a Samkhya. Some know me as the True Limit.
