Because of abandoning, the mind is said to be liberated, I also explain it as mind-only. Suchness and the ultimate reality, Nirvana and the realm of Dharma, all kinds of mind-made bodies, I also explain them as mind-only. Then, Mahamati Bodhisattva asked the Blessed One: "As the Blessed One said, Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas should be skilled in speech and meaning. How can a Bodhisattva be skilled in speech and meaning? What is speech like, and what is meaning like?" The Blessed One said: "Mahamati, therefore, listen very well and keep it in mind, and I will explain it to you." Mahamati Bodhisattva said to the Blessed One: "Good, Blessed One, we would like to hear in detail." The Blessed One said: "Mahamati, what is speech? For example, the discrimination of words and letters is combined, relying on the throat, esophagus, lips, tongue, teeth, palate, and cheeks, and the cause of the habit of discrimination expressed in speech arises from that, which is called speech. Mahamati, what is meaning? For example, all the characteristics of discrimination and the nature of expression are completely abandoned, which is called meaning. Mahamati, for the sake of such meaning, Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas go alone to a solitary place, and with the wisdom of hearing, thinking, and meditating, focus on self-realized wisdom, go to the city of Nirvana, the body of habit is completely transformed, and each thoroughly practices the nature of the meaning of the differences between the land and other places of the land with the object of self-realized wisdom, this is the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva's skill in meaning. Furthermore, Mahamati, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who is skilled in the meaning of speech, speech and meaning are neither different nor non-different, but are distinguished and understood separately, and the distinction between meaning and speech is also the same. If speech and meaning are different, then speech will not be the cause of clarifying meaning, and speech will follow meaning, just as a lamp illuminates things, etc."
