Indeed, it exists in two states. For example, existing in being, and all things falling into the view of believing in non-being, that is, perceiving the unborn as born. To this, Mahamati, how do worldly people abide in being? For example, if the world has causes and conditions, it is born, not born from non-being. Therefore, it is born from being, not born from non-being, Mahamati says so, which means saying that the world has no cause. Mahamati, how does the world abide in non-being? For example, affirming things of desire, hatred, and delusion, and then after them, discriminating and clinging to the non-existence of things of desire, hatred, and delusion. Mahamati, not affirming the existence of things is because the nature of things is completely empty, therefore, the Tathagatas, Sravakas, and Pratyekabuddhas do not affirm or deny the existence of things of desire, hatred, and delusion. Mahamati, how is it destroyed? Mahamati asked the Blessed One: Blessed One, those who affirm things of desire, hatred, and delusion, and later do not affirm them. The Blessed One said: Mahamati, good, good! It is good that you understand it that way. Mahamati, it is not only the things of desire, hatred, and delusion that are destroyed, but also the Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas are destroyed. Why is that? For example, because of not observing inside and outside, and because afflictions are separate and non-separate. Mahamati, desire, hatred, and delusion are not observable even inside and outside, because the things of desire, hatred, and delusion have no body and no affirmation. Buddhas, Sravakas, and Pratyekabuddhas are not destroyers, because Buddhas, Sravakas, and Pratyekabuddhas

Those are liberated by their very nature, and because there is no cause for bondage and binding, because there is no substance. Great Wisdom, if there is something to be bound, then there is also bondage, because that is the cause of bondage. Great Wisdom, speaking of that which utterly destroys in that way is also called the nature of non-existence. Great Wisdom, considering that, I said that clinging to the view of self is as great as Mount Sumeru, but the view of emptiness of those with manifest pride is not. Great Wisdom, the manifest pride of non-existence is the one who utterly destroys. Those who fall into the thought of self-characteristics and general characteristics, because they do not know that their own mind is only appearance, see that external things are impermanent and are utterly destroyed from one moment to the next. Even if they think that the aggregates, realms, and sources are constant, unchanging, and free from the nature of letters, they are still destroyers. Then, the Bhagavan, in order to explain that meaning again, spoke these verses: Existence and non-existence are two extremes, whatever the objects of the mind may be. If those objects are completely abandoned, the mind becomes equal, extremely tranquil, and attains peace. Because there is no clinging to the objects of the realm, it is not without cessation, the existing things are suchness, just like the realm of the noble ones. It arises from no cause, and having arisen, it will perish. The so-called having cause and condition and having no cause and condition, that does not exist in my teaching. Non-Buddhists and Buddhas, not made by me and others, if it arises from the aggregation of causes and conditions, how can it not exist? Who has accumulated causes and conditions, and says there is none? Speaking of wrong views, the Dharma arises, and with discrimination, one measures existence and non-existence. Whoever slightly understands no birth and no cessation, because he sees the world as solitary, is liberated from both existence and non-existence. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Great Wisdom again said this to the Bhagavan: Bhagavan, please explain to me and other Bodhisattvas the nature of the tenets. Please explain in detail the nature of the tenets.
