Pray! World Honored One, what kind of Dharma is called Nirvana? The World Honored One said: Great Wisdom, the Alaya consciousness of all natures' habitual tendencies, as well as the mind and the mind's ability to distinguish consciousness, and the extremely strong habitual tendencies of views, this is called Nirvana. The Nirvana of all Buddhas and myself is the realm of activity of the nature of emptiness. Furthermore, Great Wisdom, Nirvana is the realm of activity of the wisdom that each noble one realizes for themselves, it is the separation from the distinctions of permanence and annihilation, as well as the distinctions of things and non-things. How is it not permanent? For example, because the distinction between self-characteristics and general characteristics is abandoned, it is not permanent. How is it not annihilation? For example, all the noble ones who have appeared in the past, future, and present have each attained realization, so it is not annihilation. Great Wisdom, Nirvana is indestructible and immortal, if Nirvana were to die, then it would take rebirth again. If Nirvana were to perish, then it would fall into the nature of conditioned phenomena, therefore, Nirvana is separated from destruction and death, so yogis enter into it. Furthermore, Great Wisdom, Nirvana is not abandonment, not attainment, not annihilation, not permanence, not one meaning, not many meanings, this is called Nirvana. Furthermore, Great Wisdom, the Nirvana of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas is the understanding of self-characteristics and general characteristics, the absence of the noise of objects, and the inverted views, without the arising of conceptual thoughts, therefore, they generate wisdom about Nirvana. Furthermore, Great Wisdom, the nature of self-nature has two aspects, what are the two? For example, attachment to the nature of expression, and attachment to the nature of things. Among them, attachment to the nature of expression is the habit of linguistic elaboration from beginningless time.

It arises from attachment to appearances. Attachment to the characteristics of the nature of things arises from not understanding that it is only one's own mind that appears. Furthermore, Mahamati, the Tathagatas establish two kinds of blessings, and the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas bow their heads at the feet of the Buddhas and completely inquire. What are the two kinds of blessings that are established? They are, namely, entering into samadhi, and the blessing of fully revealing all forms, faces, and speech, and the blessing of empowerment with the hand. Among them, Mahamati, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, in the first Bodhisattva ground, abide in the blessing of the Buddhas. Thus, the Bodhisattva enters into the samadhi called "Great Vehicle Manifestation," and as soon as he enters into that samadhi, by the power of the blessings of the Buddhas residing in the ten directions, all forms, faces, and speech are fully revealed, just like Vajragarbha Bodhisattva, and other Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas who possess such qualities. Mahamati, this is called the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas in the first Bodhisattva ground, entering into samadhi and obtaining excellent blessings, which manifests from accumulating roots of virtue for hundreds of thousands of kalpas. Gradually, by understanding the characteristics of the antidotes and the unfavorable aspects of each ground, one enters into the cloud of the ground's dharma, and dwells in the extraordinary great lotus palace, sitting on a great lotus jewel lion throne, surrounded by a retinue of Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas with equal merit, adorned with various jewel necklaces, like pure gold, champaka flowers, the sun, and the rays of the moon. The victorious ones who have come from the ten directions, on the seat in the great lotus palace, empower him from the crown of his head.
