Here, there is no action whatsoever, like a mirage in the sky. Thus, if one knows all dharmas well, then there is nothing to be known. Teachings are merely names, and in them, there is no characteristic. Whatever gives rise to discrimination, the formations of the aggregates are like a hair comb. Drawings of entangled hair combs, illusions, dreams, cities of gandharvas, fire wheels, mirages, etc., although non-existent, appear to sentient beings. Constant and impermanent, one and different, both and neither are likewise, due to beginningless karmic connections, children thoroughly conceptualize with faith. Mirrors, water, and eyes, wish-fulfilling jewels, precious gems, etc., although images appear in them, they are not truly existent. All that appears as objects is like drawings and mirages. Although various forms appear, they are like dreams and do not exist. Furthermore, Mahamati, the teachings of the Tathagatas are free from the four extremes, namely: oneness and otherness, both and neither, existence and non-existence, neither existence nor non-existence, abandoning permanence and impermanence, and being liberated from the superimposition and denial of existence and non-existence. The teachings of the Tathagatas are the true reality, dependent origination, the path, cessation, and the complete discernment and collection of liberation; therefore, these are given precedence, and the Dharma is not taught in relation to inherent nature, sovereignty, causelessness, atoms, time, or self-nature. Furthermore, Mahamati, for the sake of purifying afflictions and cognitive obscurations, like a merchant leader, one gradually enters into the nature of extremely good discrimination with one hundred and eight phrases, as well as non-appearance, vehicles, and grounds. Furthermore, Mahamati, there are four types of dhyana (meditation): what are the four? They are: the dhyana of children's practice, the dhyana of good discrimination of meaning, the dhyana of suchness as the object, and the dhyana of the Tathagatas. Among them, what is the dhyana of children's practice? This refers to the yogis of shravakas, pratyekabuddhas, and heretics.

Those who possess wealth should first cultivate attachment to the characteristics of the absence of self in persons, and the self and common characteristics of things, such as skeletons, impermanence, suffering, and impurity, and examine, "This is such a characteristic, not otherwise," thereby becoming more distinguished than the former, without preventing the arising of concepts, this is called the meditation of children's near practice. What is the meditation of distinguishing meaning? It is examining the absence of self in persons, the characteristics of self and common characteristics, and the absence of reality in the self of non-Buddhists, others, and both, thereby examining the absence of self in phenomena, making the meaning of the characteristics of those grounds increasingly distinguished, this is called the meditation of distinguishing meaning. What is the meditation that focuses on suchness? It is not generating conceptualization in the state of suchness, which is the correct way to conceptualize the two absences of self with conceptualization, this is called the meditation that focuses on suchness. What is the meditation of the Tathagata? It is entering the state of the Tathagata ground, abiding in the bliss of the three characteristics of the wisdom of the noble ones, each with their own self-awareness, and doing inconceivable deeds for the benefit of sentient beings, this is called the meditation of the Tathagata. Then, the Bhagavan spoke these verses to further explain that meaning: The meditation of children's near practice, The meditation of distinguishing the characteristics of meaning, The meditation that focuses on suchness, The virtuous meditation of the Tathagata. If a yogi strives diligently, Like the shape of the sun and moon, The lotus and the precipice, The sky and the extinguishing of fire, Whatever the yogi conceptualizes, Those various signs, Is the meditation that opens the path of non-Buddhists, Even shravakas and pratyekabuddhas, Will fall into its realm of practice. If one completely abandons all of these, Then that is the absence of appearance. The Buddhas of all the fields, With inconceivable hands, Caress the top of his head, Examining the following of suchness. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Great Wisdom again said to the Bhagavan:
