Lord, how does the nature of what is completely conceptualized arise from characteristics? The Lord said: Great Wisdom, the characteristic of the nature of things that are dependent on others appears as the characteristic of the characteristics of things that are produced. The nature of what is completely conceptualized by manifestation and attachment has two aspects, as established by the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Complete Buddhas, namely: the characteristic of manifestation and attachment to the characteristic of name, and the characteristic of manifestation and attachment to the characteristic of things. Among them, the characteristic of manifestation and attachment to the characteristic of name is as follows: manifestation and attachment to internal and external dharmas. The characteristic of manifestation and attachment to the characteristic of things is as follows: manifestation and attachment to the self-characteristic and common characteristic of those internal and external dharmas themselves. Great Wisdom, this is called the characteristic of the two aspects of the completely conceptualized nature. That which arises by dwelling in and focusing on something is called dependent on others. What is the nature of complete accomplishment? It is as follows: being free from the conceptualization of the characteristics of things of name and cause, to be attained by noble wisdom, the object of practice to be traversed by the self-awareness of each individual, the noble wisdom. This is called the nature of complete accomplishment, the heart essence of the Tathagatas. Then, the Lord spoke this verse in order to further explain that meaning: Name and cause are completely conceptualized, The characteristic of the two natures, Correct knowledge and suchness, Is the characteristic of complete accomplishment. Great Wisdom, this is the five dharmas and, the aspect of well distinguishing the characteristics of nature, called the category of dharma, the object of practice to be traversed by the self-awareness of each individual, the noble wisdom. Therein, you and the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas should train. Furthermore, Great Wisdom, the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas should be skilled in well distinguishing the characteristics of the two selflessnesses. Among them, what are the characteristics of the two selflessnesses? Namely: the selflessness of the person and, the selflessness of dharmas. In the person

What is no-self? It is like this: being separated from self and what belongs to self. Not understanding the aggregation of the skandhas, dhatus, and ayatanas, being born from karma and craving, and from clinging to name and form, consciousness arises. Like this, all the senses, and the vessel in which one's own mind appears, the body and the basis are thoroughly distinguished by being examined by one's own conceptual thought. Like flowing water, seeds, lamp fire, wind, and clouds, they perish from one moment to the next. Like a monkey, extremely agitated. Like a bee, extremely fond of impure places. Like a fiercely burning fire, never knowing satisfaction. From beginningless time, the habitual tendencies of negative actions become the cause. Like the wheel of a water bucket, it goes around and around, becoming the wheel of samsara. The body takes on various forms, entering and arising like illusion, mantras, and magic wheels. Whoever is skilled in the knowledge of this characteristic is said to understand the absence of self in a person. Then, what is understanding the absence of self in phenomena? It is like this: all the skandhas, dhatus, and ayatanas are an assembly of characteristics that are imputed by conceptual thought. Just as the skandhas, dhatus, and ayatanas are separated from self and what belongs to self, the skandhas, dhatus, and ayatanas are aggregated, connected by the thread of continuity, karma, and existence, arising from mutual universal change and being immovable. Likewise, all phenomena are also like that, separated from their own and common characteristics, not being true, being the characteristic of universal conceptualization. The power of universal conceptualization is also generated by childish people, but not by noble ones. Because it is separated from mind, intellect, consciousness, the five dharmas, and nature. Great wisdom, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should be skilled in thoroughly distinguishing the absence of self in all phenomena. Great wisdom, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who is skilled in the absence of self in phenomena will soon attain the first Bodhisattva ground, being extremely delighted by understanding the thorough distinction of the characteristics of the ground of formless meditation, and gradually becoming more and more superior.
